On August 29, Indonesian football had four more players of Dutch origin officially swearing in to become Indonesian citizens at the Indonesian Embassy in Den Haag, Netherlands.
According to CNN Indonesia, the four names participating in this naturalization round include Mauro Nils Zijlstra (20 years old) and three female players Isabel Corian Kopp (23 years old), Pauline Jeannette van de Pol (22 years old) and Isabelle Nottet (22 years old).
This naturalization shows Indonesia's efforts in utilizing the resources of Indonesian expatriates, aiming to raise the level of domestic football with a spirit of dedication and international professional quality.
Because in the most recent regional tournament - ASEAN Women's Cup 2025, Indonesia was in the same group with Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia but ended the group stage with 3 losses, ranking last with a goal difference of -14.
Three Dutch-born female strikers have just been naturalized, and are pillars in the long-term strategy towards the Women's World Cup.
Among these new faces, Mauro Zijlstra is expected to soon join the U23 Indonesia defense in important tournaments at the end of the year, bringing certainty and increasing competitiveness for the "archipelago country" representative in the Asian arena.
The three female players Isabel, Pauline and Isabelle also become part of the long-term strategy of the Indonesian women's team. Their goal is to enter the world's top 50, Asia's top 10 to regularly participate in the AFC Women's Asian Cup and aim for the 2035 Women's World Cup .
This naturalization is considered a strategic step, helping both Indonesian men's and women's football gain more momentum in their journey to reach regional and world level in the coming time.
Additionally, another player, Miliano Jonathans, will be sworn in as a naturalized citizen in Jakarta, Indonesia next week.
