U22 Vietnam had a hard-fought 2-1 win over U22 Laos. This was a match in which coach Kim Sang Sik's team benefited from a controversial decision by the referee.

"There was no VAR so we reacted to the referee. My teammates and I didn't think the referee would change his decision," Quoc Viet said.

Previously, in the match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Laos, in the 61st minute, receiving a pass from Thanh Nhan, Dinh Bac dribbled the ball a few times and then shot the ball hard and low. Dinh Bac's tricky shot left goalkeeper Lokphathip of U22 Laos helpless.

However, assistant 1 Sanjar Shayusupov raised the flag for offside because he thought Quoc Viet was standing behind the U22 Laos defenders. But the surprise happened when the main referee from Uzbekistan - Rustam Lutfullin, decided to "break the flag" of his assistant, recognizing the goal for Dinh Bac.

“After the match with U22 Laos, the team spirit was quite good. It was a bit regretful that we could not score many goals. Coach Kim Sang Sik encouraged us that the first match is always difficult so getting 3 points is good,” said Quoc Viet.

The player nicknamed “King of the Youth League” assessed that the team still has many points to improve, especially the ability to take advantage of opportunities. “The team created many opportunities but did not take advantage of them well. In the second match, we will try to score more goals,” Quoc Viet frankly admitted.

Evaluating the decisive match with U22 Malaysia, Quoc Viet said: "I have played many times with Malaysia so I am very confident. The goal of U22 Vietnam is definitely 3 points. Coach Kim Sang Sik assigned the task of trying his best and taking advantage of opportunities. As a striker, I have to score, and I am a bit regretful that I did not score in the first match, but I will try harder in the next match."

Returning to the training session on the afternoon of December 4, Coach Kim Sang Sik gave a training plan with a moderate amount of exercise. The group of players who started against U22 Laos mainly practiced recovery and muscle relaxation, while the remaining group practiced more attacking and finishing coordination exercises.

Midfielder Nguyen Xuan Bac was injured in the opening match and was allowed to stay at the hotel for gym and treatment. According to the team doctor, the player can return to training in the next 2-3 days. This is really good news for coach Kim Sang Sik.
