Vietnam U23 got off to a smooth start.
On the evening of September 3rd, the Vietnam U23 team kicked off their 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 victory over Bangladesh U23. Dinh Bac provided a perfect assist for Ngoc My to score in the 15th minute, marking his first official goal for the Vietnam U23 team.
After a dominant first half that yielded only one goal, coach Kim Sang-sik's team had a much more exciting second half after the introduction of three attacking players, Van Khang, Quoc Viet, and Le Viktor. A series of relentless attacks led to Le Viktor's goal in the 83rd minute.
This victory puts the Vietnam U23 team temporarily at the top of Group C in the 2027 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers with 3 points and a goal difference of +2. The Yemen U23 team, after defeating Singapore U23 2-1 in the earlier match, is temporarily in second place.

After a relatively stable start, the Vietnam U23 team and the three visiting teams will have two days to rest and recuperate in Phu Tho province before the second round of matches on September 6th, still at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho province).
At 7 PM, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will aim to defend their top spot in Group C by securing another victory, this time against Singapore U23.
Earlier at 4 PM, the Yemen U23 team will face Bangladesh U23. The West Asian team's goal will also be a second victory, to build momentum for the "final" match against Vietnam U23 on September 9th, which will decide the top spot in Group C and a ticket to the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
