The Rashford transfer saga is far from over. |
Barcelona are planning a squad overhaul to keep Marcus Rashford, amid Manchester United's firm refusal to accept any further loan deals.
Rashford joined the Catalan club on loan last summer and quickly rediscovered his form. He scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 39 games, earning a return to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel. However, Barcelona must find a suitable financial solution if they want to keep him long-term.
According to sources, MU values Rashford at around £26 million and will only accept a permanent transfer. This has forced Barcelona to consider selling players to generate funds. Ferran Torres has been added to their transfer list.
Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 but has yet to live up to expectations. His contract runs until 2027, and the club doesn't want to risk losing him for free in the future. Selling Torres is seen as a direct solution to balance finances and make room for Rashford.
Conversely, Rashford has yet to secure a permanent place in Hansi Flick's system. He has to compete with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal on the wings. Nevertheless, the coaching staff still highly values the adaptability and potential contribution of the English forward.
Joan Laporta's re-election solidified the club's direction, including keeping Rashford as suggested by Flick. Rashford himself has not hidden his desire to stay. He called Barcelona "a happy place" and affirmed his wish to continue winning titles there.
