Gang of extortionists arrested by police

According to Thu Duc City Police, recently, large construction projects in the area have encountered problems such as: protection, competition for scrap purchase, freight transport, transportation of construction materials for projects...

Faced with this situation, Thu Duc City Police stepped in to verify and investigate. Among them, there was a gang that brazenly stood up to block the road, attack, and threaten to force construction businesses at the Vinhome Grand Park project to pay money.

Thu's gang blocked the road with the intention of extorting property.

Through investigation, Thu Duc City Police determined that in early 2023, seeing many trucks, cargo vehicles, and construction materials for the Vinhome Grand Park project, Thu had the intention of extorting property.

The defendant Thu persuaded the defendants Tuyen, Anh and Phuc to use obstacles to block Phuoc Thien road, preventing vehicles carrying materials from entering and leaving the construction site. Vehicles wishing to pass had to pay money to Thu's gang. On average, each month, the defendants divided 4 - 5 million VND/person from the money they extorted from the drivers of vehicles transporting materials to and from the construction site.

In addition, the defendants confessed to having pressured and forced 8 companies to pay a total of 210 million VND in order to allow vehicles carrying materials to pass through the land of defendant Phuc's family to enter the construction site.

With this form, Thu's gang forced and extorted 230 million VND from Song Tien Company and 13 million VND from Song Vu Company. The total amount of money that Thu's gang extorted from the companies was 458 million VND.
