On the morning of June 6, Xuyen A General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City announced that it had just performed an endoscopy and found a large liver fluke wriggling in a man's bile duct.

The patient is Mr. NVL (61 years old, in Dong Nai). About 6 days before being admitted to the hospital, the patient showed signs of jaundice, yellow eyes, and intermittent abdominal pain. He was treated at another medical facility but did not improve.
After performing all the paraclinical tests and abdominal CT scan, the doctors concluded that the patient had cholecystitis, biliary tract infection due to common bile duct stones and performed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to remove gallstones.
During the endoscopy, a large liver fluke was found moving around in the bile duct and was removed. The patient was advised to continue treatment for liver fluke disease in the near future.
