Temporarily detained 2 suspects for forging university degrees and foreign language certificates

On September 5, the Investigation Police Agency of Long Xuyen City ( An Giang ) announced that the unit had just initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and executed an order to temporarily detain Le Dang Khoa (25 years old, residing in Tan Hiep District, Kien Giang) and Phan Van Duc (27 years old, residing in Cho Moi District, An Giang) to investigate the act of forging seals and documents of agencies and organizations or using fake seals and documents of agencies and organizations.

Fake diplomas and certificates forged by Le Dang Khoa and Phan Van Duc

According to the initial investigation results, in May 2022, student NVHA (25 years old, residing in Cho Moi District) went to An Giang University to submit a basic information technology application certificate and an English certificate to receive a university diploma. After checking, the school discovered that these two certificates had signs of forgery, so they were temporarily detained.

After reviewing the submitted diplomas and certificates, the school discovered 3 more English certificates and 1 university degree that were suspected of being fake, so they reported it to the police. After examination, the certificates and university degrees were found to be fake.

On June 2, the Long Xuyen City Police Department issued a decision to prosecute a criminal case of forging seals and documents of agencies and organizations or using fake seals and documents of agencies and organizations. Expanding the investigation, the police continued to seize 46 foreign language and IT certificates with signs of forgery.

During the investigation, the police determined that the above diplomas and certificates were obtained by Le Dang Khoa, who received information from students who wanted to fake diplomas and certificates, then sent the information to Phan Van Duc so that Duc could ask another person (unknown background) to fake them.

The case of forging the above mentioned diplomas and certificates is being further investigated and handled by Long Xuyen City Police according to the provisions of law.
