Polls show Democrat Harris and Republican Donald Trump neck and neck, including in seven battleground states that could decide the national vote.

More than 62 million Americans have cast early ballots in the 2024 presidential election, breaking records in several states and giving hope to both Democratic and Republican candidates.
Polls show Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump neck and neck, including in seven battleground states that could decide the national vote. Harris’s campaign has encouraged voters to vote early.
Her running mate Tim Walz, along with outgoing President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama, have all exercised their civic rights and responsibilities.
Mr. Trump also encouraged his supporters to vote whenever they wanted.
As of October 31, at least 62.7 million people had voted early, accounting for nearly 40% of the total 2020 vote.
In Georgia, more than 3.5 million people have already voted, or 45% of registered voters, a record high. Up to 70% of Georgians are expected to vote early in this election. Several other swing states have seen similar trends.
“After 2020, states really stepped up and improved their early voting processes,” said Julian Zelizer, a Princeton University professor.
Meanwhile, political scientist Michael McDonald at the University of Florida said the large number of early votes helps campaigns focus their sprint efforts as Election Day approaches on November 5.
According to survey data in six states including Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Michigan, North Carolina and Virginia, women voters accounted for about 55% of early votes and men made up 45%. The Democratic Party hopes this will give their candidate an advantage.
Polls show Ms Harris has a significant lead over Mr Trump among female voters.
However, Republicans say polls show more Trump supporters are voting early.
At a campaign rally on October 30, Mr. Trump declared that the Republican Party had set a record for the number of early voters./.
