On the afternoon of August 28th, as part of the activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd (September 2nd, 1945 - September 2nd, 2025), the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Center for the Quintessence of Vietnamese Traditional Craft Villages, organized a program to welcome a delegation of foreign journalists and overseas Vietnamese reporters to visit and experience the ancient Bat Trang pottery village (Gia Lam commune, Hanoi).
The group of journalists was introduced to the history and cultural-artistic value of Bat Trang, and also directly visited typical historical sites such as: the village communal house, the Confucian temple, the ancient alley, the House of Hardship, the space showcasing the traditional and modern Bat Trang pottery craft; and the space dedicated to light sculpture art.
At the Center for the Quintessence of Vietnamese Traditional Craft Villages, reporters participated in pottery-making experiences, admired light sculpture art, and enjoyed the cultural atmosphere of traditional craft villages.
With its long history and unique characteristics, Bat Trang has become a symbol of Vietnamese pottery and an attractive tourist destination.
Pottery production facilities in Bat Trang have been renovated and upgraded, creating spaces for tourists to visit and experience.

The ancient Bat Trang village, covering approximately 5.2 hectares, is hundreds of years old and features 23 ancient houses and 16 ancestral temples built with antique Bat Trang bricks, preserving many traditional cultural aspects of the old craft village…
Bat Trang village is not only renowned for its pottery craft, but also for its tradition of valuing education and respecting knowledge. The village is proud of its cultural figures, especially its sages, laureates, and doctors.
After his visit, Mr. Yury Sigov (Russia) shared: "I was very impressed with this ancient village. The village evoked many memories of old villages, especially because of its fresh air, ancient architecture, and friendly people. All of it created an unforgettable impression."
Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien, who works at Viet Tien Television (Canada), said: "I have visited Bat Trang several times, and each time I feel moved as if I am traveling back in time. Ancient relics such as the Bat Trang village communal house, the Confucian temple, the old houses, and the image of elderly people with white hair still diligently practicing their craft, have left a deep impression on me. I especially love the simplicity of Bat Trang pottery – not overly elaborate or sophisticated, but possessing a unique and captivating charm, very Bat Trang, very Vietnamese. Looking at the products, you can clearly feel the hand of the craftsman. Having lived in Canada for many years, I have always strived to promote the image of Vietnam, especially Bat Trang pottery, and this passion will remain with me forever."
Sharing with the delegation, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu emphasized that the National Day celebration on September 2nd is an opportunity for the capital's tourism industry to promote and tell stories about Hanoi's thousand-year-old cultural values.

The city boasts numerous historical sites, heritage locations, traditional craft villages, culinary delights, festivals, and more. The goal is to build Hanoi's tourism brand into a destination of thousand-year-old heritage and a "City for Peace ."
Hanoi's tourism development index has grown rapidly year after year, with the goal of welcoming over 8 million international visitors this year. The city is actively developing high-quality destinations and selecting typical craft villages to develop into world-class destinations.
The delegation's experiential and survey trip to Bat Trang pottery village is expected to contribute to promoting the image of Hanoi and its tourism services to the world.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Bat Trang is one of the capital's typical craft villages, attracting hundreds of thousands of domestic and international tourists every year.
Organizing experiential activities for international journalists on this occasion is an opportunity to showcase the finest aspects of traditional crafts, promoting the strong development of cultural and craft village tourism in the era of integration.
