According to a ranking by https://www.timeout.com/, Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is expected to be the most expensive city in the world in 2025 in terms of entertainment costs.
This is the result of a survey of 18,000 people living in more than 100 cities around the world about the cost of daily living, from eating out, watching movies, attending concerts, drinking coffee to nighttime entertainment activities.
In general, the cost of living in cities is usually higher than in smaller towns and rural areas, especially the cost of rent and housing.
However, Time Out's survey focused on the cost of entertainment in cities and did not ask about affordability for housing, rent, and food.
According to this year's ranking, Seoul, the capital of South Korea, emerged as the most expensive city. Only 30% of respondents living in Seoul said eating out at restaurants was affordable, 21% said the same about nightlife, and 27% considered drinks to be inexpensive.
Oslo, the capital of Norway, is also known for having some of the most expensive food and beverage services in the world. Only 24% of locals consider the prices there to be reasonable.
Meanwhile, London, the British capital, is considered the most expensive place for a night out, with only 16% of people believing it to be affordable.
However, London is one of the cheapest cities to enjoy art, with 83% of residents saying that art and culture here are inexpensive or free.
According to the VNA correspondent in London, the public can access works by famous painters such as Monet, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, and Rubens, as well as thousands of historical artifacts, at many museums and galleries free of charge.
In addition, London offers many other free activities for residents and tourists, from comedy shows to experiences close to nature and animals, which helps to alleviate some of the pressure of living costs in the city.
Conversely, the Colombian cities of Medellin and Bogotá were rated as having the lowest cost of living, with 89% of respondents in Medellin saying that eating at restaurants was very affordable, 83% saying that drinks were also cheap, and as many as 94% agreeing that buying a cup of coffee was also inexpensive.
Additionally, two major Chinese cities are also on the list of places with low living costs, with 73% and 72% of respondents respectively saying that going to the theater in Beijing and Shanghai doesn't cost much money.
New Orleans is the only city in the United States to make the list of cities with an affordable cost of living.
