With a lead in the polls, former President Donald Trump is expected to easily win the first-in-the-nation vote in the state of Iowa.
Iowans could face frigid conditions during the voting period, with snowstorms and wind chills expected to hit, with temperatures dropping to -35 degrees Celsius in some places.

“We’re going to win someday,” Trump declared at a campaign event in Indianola. “Get dressed tomorrow,” he added. “Brave the weather, get out there and save America.”
"You can't sit at home. If you're really sick, say 'I have to do it'. Even if you vote and then die, it's worth it, remember that," Mr. Trump joked, drawing laughter from the audience.
“I voted for Trump again,” 37-year-old truck driver Jeff Nikolas told AFP, adding that “he is stubborn but can actually get things done.”
Having lost in 2020 after largely skipping the Iowa campaign, Mr Trump has built up an impressive network of “precinct commanders” to rally votes this time around.
Iowa is the first state in the US to hold a presidential election to choose the party's nominee for the White House. Republicans will vote on January 15 and Democrats are scheduled to hold their primary in the state on March 5.
