Recently, doctors from the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery, E Hospital, provided emergency care and treatment to a boy (10 years old, in Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi ) who was hit in the face with a long knife, causing serious damage to the nose.

Dragon swords are sold online for 49,000 - 75,000 VND/piece.

MSc. Dr. Le Thi Nga - Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery said that the boy was hospitalized due to a serious domestic accident, with a swollen face, many bruises in the nose area, and a sunken deformity in the right nose. The nose did not bleed because it had been given first aid. Immediately, the doctors at the Emergency Department had the boy conduct the necessary tests and X-rays. The results of the CT scan of the maxillofacial region determined that there was a fracture of the main bone of the right nose. The child was transferred to the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery and the doctors performed surgery to fix the nose.

According to doctors, the boy is very lucky because the blow from the long sword did not affect the nasal septum or many other parts of the face such as the eyes, cheekbones, forehead, etc. The family said that the accident happened during recess at school. The boy and his friends were playing with a 30 kg long sword, brought to class by a friend. The friends were participating in a challenge game "Who is the strongest!" when they broke this 30 kg long sword.

Most of the children gave up because this dragon sword toy had a bending force of 30kg, while their body weight and health were not suitable. It was the turn of a child who was 1m34 tall and weighed 29-30kg to play, slipped from his hand and hit the face of a child standing next to him. The teacher and his friends took the child to the school's medical room for first aid. After that, the family was called to take the child to the emergency room at E Hospital.

The child's relatives shared that the children learned about the dragon sword toy when watching clips on tiktok with a challenge game of who can break a 100 kg dragon sword toy... Even the child also knows the level of danger when in the clip there is also an image of an accident of the player when he was hit in the neck or mouth, causing all his teeth to break... But these children still go online to buy "toys" at very cheap prices, from 49,000 VND - 75,000 VND/product, depending on the quality and weight of the dragon sword toy...

Doctor Le Thi Nga said that the long dao is known as a training support tool for gym goers to increase arm muscles. However, recently on Tiktok, Youtube, there have been clips of challenges being spread, so many people who do not go to the gym, especially children, buy them to play with without knowing that when using these training support tools, they need to choose the right one for each person's physical condition, weight, height and must have an instructor (PT).

Because, the user of this dragon knife is overweight compared to his body, he may encounter some dangerous household accidents. Lightly, it can cause accidents to the player himself, such as torn arm muscles (when straining too hard), broken nose, broken teeth... More seriously, the dragon knife can hit the eye, injuring the eyeball, even breaking the pupil; hitting the forehead can cause traumatic brain injury, hematoma. Not to mention, the dragon knife can also be dangerous to others...

Therefore, Dr. Le Thi Nga recommends that parents should pay attention when children play with dangerous objects such as long knives and choose products suitable for their physical condition, height and weight. In addition, if an accident caused by a long knife occurs, parents should take their children immediately to the nearest medical facility so that doctors can assess and treat the injury.
