On the afternoon of October 23, sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Tran Thi Hong, a staff member of the Neonatal Department, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, still trembled when recalling the terrifying moment when a subject holding a knife attacked many people around.
“At that time, I was taking care of the children in the next room when I heard a loud scream. Running over, I saw a man holding a newborn baby, lifting it up high as if he was going to throw it out the window. I could only scream and beg him not to harm the baby,” Ms. Hong recounted, her voice still trembling.

In the midst of the panic, the baby's grandmother rushed to grab the baby, giving Ms. Hong the opportunity to rush in, hug the baby, and run outside.
“I only had time to hold the baby and run away, but as soon as I reached the hallway, I fell. I gave the baby to a colleague, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, to carry and continue running. I crawled up and was pulled into a nearby room by my colleague to hide,” Ms. Hong recalled.
Inside the hospital room, the hallway, screams, footsteps running and banging on doors resounded incessantly. Several other medical staff who could not escape in time were attacked by the subject, leaving many seriously injured.

After the suspect was subdued by the authorities, the doctors and nurses immediately took the injured to the emergency room. When Ms. Hong saw that the baby was safe, she could only hug her colleague tightly, crying and feeling relieved that the fragile life had been saved.
