The number of passengers passing through this airport during the April 30 holiday this year is expected to average 115,000-120,000 per day, much lower than during the Lunar New Year.

According to information from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, during the peak holiday period (April 26 - May 1), there will be 4,280 flights departing and arriving with approximately more than 686,000 passengers.

Tan Son Nhat Airport will operate an average of 720 flights per day. The peak days are April 26 and May 1, with 740 flights carrying 125,000 passengers per day.

According to Tien Phong newspaper’s report on the afternoon of April 26, passengers have begun to flock to the airport on the last day before the holiday. However, there is no scene of crowding or jostling.

Compared to last year’s April 30 holiday, the number of passengers and flights at Tan Son Nhat airport both decreased. The total number of passengers this year decreased by nearly 70,000, and the number of flights also decreased by 186.

The number of passengers has decreased but is still higher than usual. Therefore, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has made a plan to coordinate with relevant parties to regulate and avoid congestion.

Units will increase monitoring of people and vehicles entering and exiting control gates; Check camera systems at check-in areas and baggage conveyor belts at international and domestic terminals; Coordinate and divert traffic to minimize congestion.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport also arranged Youth Union members to support passengers in the security screening area and the public lobby of the domestic terminal during peak hours (5am-9am) from April 26 to May 1.

The decrease in air passengers during the holidays this year is due to many reasons, including high ticket prices causing people to switch to trains, cars, and personal vehicles.

Compared to the peak of Lunar New Year 2024, the peak day of this year's holiday, Tan Son Nhat airport also had 20,000-25,000 fewer passengers per day.
