While most people think of Europe as a place for leisurely train travel , Asia also has a stunning network of luxury trains waiting to take their passengers on the journey of a lifetime.
According to the Telegraph , the luxury train in Vietnam is actually a specially designed carriage to transport tourists on the Thong Nhat train, with a ticket price of up to 250 pounds (about 8 million VND), running the short journey from Quy Nhon to Da Nang . Created by a hotel group in the central region, this is Vietnam's first foray into luxury rail tourism.
The ship has a semicircular bar where cocktails are served on request.
Travellers on this carriage are treated to a three-course meal, complimentary massages and free drinks over six and a half hours – all included in the ticket price, which starts at £250 each way. However, this is a fraction of what you might pay for a journey on a super-luxury train such as the British Pullman (Europe) or the Orient Express (Asia).
The Vietage train is unique in that it is a single carriage attached to the Thong Nhat train, the main train line connecting the capital Hanoi and the country’s southern metropolis, Ho Chi Minh City. The southbound departure from Da Nang is at 8:15 a.m., while the northbound departure from Quy Nhon begins at 12:53 p.m.
Telegraph reporters board the train - which looks like any other
From the outside, the carriage looks identical to the rest of the train: pale concrete grey with splashes of blue, red and white. The interior, on the other hand, is an exploration of Indochinese aesthetics, with warm wood and rattan. The 12 plush seats are actually more like armchairs, and the rear of the carriage is home to a semicircular bar that serves cocktails on demand, as well as a treatment room for complimentary massages and a bathroom that would look out of place in a 5-star hotel.
As the carriage pulls away from the station and begins to sway rhythmically, winding through the urban area of Da Nang, past motorbikes and roadside houses, a waiter will come to the visitors with pastries and a drinks list, while another waiter appears with a bottle of Taltarni T Series Brut, a sparkling wine originating from Australia.

The city scene gradually recedes, replaced by rows of swaying banana trees, storks in the fields and farmers working hard in conical hats.
Occasionally, visitors pass by lotus ponds in full bloom, often with a lone water buffalo grazing. In the distance, there are always some mountains shrouded in mist...
Passengers can go to the treatment room for a free massage.
After breakfast, guests can enjoy a 15-minute massage to soothing music that drowns out the rattle of the tracks, then return to their window seats for a long, relaxing lunch. The menu includes Western and Vietnamese dishes (all prepared at Anantara resorts and served on board), and roast duck, highlighted by local ingredients such as Dalat strawberries and green tea...
The train crosses the beautiful Central routes
In addition to Vietage in Vietnam, the New Zealand Herald also listed eight of the most luxurious trains in Asia: Eastern & Oriental Express, Singapore/Malaysia; Train Suite Shiki-Shima, Japan; Twilight Express Mizakaze, Japan; Seven Stars Kuyshu, Japan; Shangri-La Express, China; and three other trains in India: Golden Chariot, Maharaja's Express, Deccan Odyssey.
