Viet Duc Friendship Hospital is a pioneer in the field of organ transplantation such as liver, heart, and kidney transplantation. The hospital has organized training and transferred organ transplantation technical packages to many units across the country with good results.

Meanwhile, the need to implement Kidney Transplantation technique at Bach Mai Hospital is necessary, in line with the development orientation of the Hospital.

Bach Mai Hospital was licensed by the Ministry of Health to pilot kidney transplants since 2005 and expired in 2008. In 2011, the Hospital restarted the kidney transplant technique and has so far performed 429 transplants, however, there are still many difficulties in the documentation process and some related procedures.

After conducting a survey and assessing the current status of facilities, equipment, human resources, capacity and ability to receive the Kidney Transplant technical package at Bach Mai Hospital, Prof. Dr. Tran Binh Giang - Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the working group highly agreed on the content of transferring the Kidney Transplant technical package to Bach Mai Hospital, ensuring a systematic transfer, maintaining sustainable techniques, and moving towards multi-organ transplantation in the next stage.

Bach Mai Hospital ensures funding for purchasing, supplementing equipment, consumables, infrastructure (arranging 3 operating rooms)... training, receiving technical packages for organ transplantation at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital. Ensure compliance with requirements and regulations of the Law.

The leaders of Viet Duc Hospital assigned the Training and Line Command Center to coordinate with the Organ Transplant Center and related units to implement the contents according to regulations (list of equipment, supplies, drugs... and attached training programs).
