Dong Nai Provincial Social Insurance: Health insurance support policy is a social security support for ethnic minorities

At the monitoring session on the implementation of health insurance policy with Dong Nai province's Social Insurance, Head of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council Dieu Dieu emphasized that supporting health insurance for ethnic minorities is a policy of profound humanistic significance, contributing to protecting health and ensuring social security.

The monitoring delegation of the Ethnic Committee of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Council, headed by Head of the Committee Dieu Dieu, recently had a working session with the Provincial Social Insurance on the implementation of the policy to support the purchase of health insurance cards for ethnic minorities according to Resolution No. 16/2022/NQ-HDND dated November 9, 2022 of the Provincial People's Council.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Social Insurance Le Xuan Cao reported on the results of implementing the policy to support the purchase of health insurance cards for ethnic minorities in the province.

According to the Deputy Director of the Provincial Social Insurance, as the agency implementing health insurance policies for groups of people in the province, including health insurance policies for ethnic minorities, the Provincial Social Insurance has coordinated with relevant Departments and branches of the province to effectively implement policies and laws on health insurance in the area.

According to statistics, from January 2022 to June 2024, 136,855 ethnic minorities were supported with health insurance premiums with a total amount of over 40.5 billion VND; The provincial budget supports specific premiums over the years: 70% in 2022; 65% in 2023; 55% in the first 6 months of 2024.

According to the general assessment, the health insurance support policy has played a role as a social security support for ethnic minorities. The propaganda has been promoted, people's awareness of the importance and social security nature of the health insurance regime has been increasingly enhanced. The implementation in localities in the province has been synchronous and highly effective, helping people in the target group to enjoy the health insurance policy, contributing to the completion of health insurance coverage targets in the area.

However, there are still some difficulties such as: the basic salary increased to 1.8 million VND compared to 1.49 million VND at the time of issuing Resolution No. 16, the life of a part of ethnic minorities is still difficult, affecting the work of mobilizing people to pay the remaining cost to buy health insurance cards.

At the monitoring session, Head of the Ethnic Committee of Dong Nai Provincial People's Council Dieu Dieu emphasized that supporting health insurance for ethnic minorities is a policy of profound humanistic significance, contributing to protecting health and ensuring social security.

Therefore, it is necessary to continue to implement synchronously and effectively, focusing on improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, creating trust for people when using health insurance cards. Expand the network of service organizations and social insurance and health insurance collection staff widely so that people can easily access and register to participate in health insurance.

The Head of the Ethnic Minority Committee of the Provincial People's Council also suggested that in the coming time, units should review the complete data of ethnic minorities and have solutions to propagate and mobilize people to clearly understand their rights and responsibilities to participate in health insurance.
