Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau works with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST)

On October 9, at the Convention - Performance Center, Comrade Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City received and worked with the delegation of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) led by Dr. Chang Joon Yeon, Vice President of the Institute and Dr. Roh Eun Joo, Director of the Center for Innovation and Business Cooperation on the occasion of attending the Techfest Hai Phong 2025 event.

Speaking at the reception, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau highly appreciated the relationship between Vietnam and Korea in general and Hai Phong in particular, which has been growing in recent years and in the coming years. He emphasized that cooperation in science, technology and innovation is becoming the focus, bringing many practical results between Hai Phong and KIST. Typically, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology has participated in displaying and introducing technology, connecting technology supply and demand and attending seminars at Techfest HaiPhong 2025.

The City Party Secretary stated: With its position as an industrial, seaport and innovation center in the North of Vietnam, Hai Phong city always attaches importance to and strongly promotes cooperation with Korea. Hai Phong is currently one of the major industrial, service and logistics centers of the country, aiming to become a modern, smart and sustainable industrial city. The Politburo has issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, creating an important foundation for localities to implement. Hai Phong city will create favorable conditions for KIST Institute and Korean partners to successfully implement cooperation activities in Hai Phong. The Department of Science and Technology is assigned to be the information hub connecting exchange and cooperation activities on this content.

Dr. Chang Joon Yeon thanked the city leaders for their welcome and affirmed that KIST is ready to support and share experiences with Hai Phong city in selecting key industries in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. At the same time, it will support Hai Phong in commercializing science and technology products; building high-tech zones... effectively, suitable to Hai Phong's reality.

It is expected that in November 2025, the Director of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) will visit and work with Hai Phong city to enhance the transfer of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as well as exchange many research programs between Korea and Hai Phong, opening a new chapter in the fourth industrial revolution.
