Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Le Quang Tung was elected as Secretary General of the National Assembly.

(TN&MT) - The 15th National Assembly has just conducted the process of electing Mr. Le Quang Tung to hold the position of Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee and Secretary General of the National Assembly for the 15th National Assembly term.

Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Le Quang Tung, member of the Party Central Committee and deputy of the 15th National Assembly, was introduced by the National Assembly Standing Committee to be elected to the above position by the 15th National Assembly to replace Mr. Bui Van Cuong - who was dismissed by the National Assembly on October 25, also at the 8th Session.

The National Assembly elected members of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly Secretary General for the new National Assembly term by secret ballot during today's working session, November 28.

The National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution to elect Mr. Le Quang Tung as a member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and General Secretary of the 15th National Assembly by electronic voting, with the following results: 454 delegates participated in the vote (equal to 94.78% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), 453 delegates approved (equal to 94.57% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), and 01 delegate did not vote (equal to 0.21% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).

Secretary General of the National Assembly Le Quang Tung

Mr. Le Quang Tung was born in 1971, hometown Ha Tinh , member of the Party Central Committee, delegate of the 15th National Assembly.

After more than 2 years working at the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, he continuously held many positions at the Ministry of Planning and Investment from 1996 to 2014.

In March 2014, he was mobilized by the Secretariat to join the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and then held the position of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for more than 3 years.

The Prime Minister appointed Mr. Le Quang Tung as Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism from July 2018. In July 2020, the Politburo assigned him to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee for the 16th term, 2015-2020.

At the 17th Quang Tri Provincial Party Congress, Mr. Le Quang Tung was re-elected as Secretary of the 17th Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
