Implementing the Prime Minister's directive to "turn heritage into assets", Thai Nguyen province is making efforts to turn this "red address" into an attractive destination, where the glorious past blends with modern life, creating a driving force for sustainable development for the revolutionary land.

Preserving and promoting heritage values
Dinh Hoa Safety Zone (ATK) historical relic is located in the communes of Phu Dinh, Diem Mac, Thanh Dinh, Dinh Bien, Bao Linh, Dong Thinh, Quy Ky, Kim Phuong, Binh Thanh and Cho Chu town, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, with a total planned conservation area of over 5,200 km².
This is a strategic land located in the center of Viet Bac, bordering the three provinces of Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Bac Kan - a place considered the "heart" of the revolutionary base during the resistance war against French colonialism (1946-1954).
Historically, this area has had many different names such as Safety Zone, ATK Dinh Hoa Historical Relic Site, or Central Safety Zone - associated with the years of activities and work of President Ho Chi Minh , the Central Party Committee and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

In 1981, the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) ranked ATK Dinh Hoa as a national relic, including 13 typical component relics.
Each location is a milestone in the history of the resistance war: from Cho Chu Prison - where the French colonialists detained revolutionary soldiers, to the location of the founding of the Vietnam Liberation Army in Dinh Bien commune - the cradle of the Vietnam People's Army.
The places where Uncle Ho lived and worked, such as Khau Ty hill, Tin Keo hill or Khuon Tat, were all associated with strategic decisions, including the draft "Working style reform" and important documents leading to the victory of the Winter-Spring campaign 1953-1954 and Dien Bien Phu.
Not only the workplace of President Ho Chi Minh, ATK Dinh Hoa is also the "headquarters" of many central agencies: General Secretary Truong Chinh and the Central Party Office in Phung Hien, the General Command of the Vietnam People's Army in Bao Linh, or the birthplace of the People's Army Newspaper, the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Central Inspection Committee.
Khuon Tat relic complex – where Uncle Ho used to live, bathe, and fish – along with Khuon Tat waterfall, Pu Don hill… have all been restored and preserved, becoming a sacred space to educate the tradition of patriotism for today’s generations.
ATK Dinh Hoa, together with Pac Bo (Cao Bang) and Tan Trao (Tuyen Quang), form the "Resistance Capital" - the birthplace, organization and direction of the campaigns that decided the fate of the nation.

It was here that the Politburo and President Ho Chi Minh met to discuss and approve the Dien Bien Phu campaign plan, creating a historic victory that "resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world", ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina.
With special historical, cultural and scientific values, on May 10, 2012, the Prime Minister decided to rank ATK Dinh Hoa Historical Relic as a special national relic.
Today, ATK Dinh Hoa is not only a sacred "red address" in the hearts of Vietnamese people but also an important cultural and historical destination, contributing to nurturing patriotism, the spirit of independence and self-reliance and the aspiration for development of the nation.
Heritage – the driving force for sustainable development
Since 2015, Dinh Hoa has coordinated with all levels and sectors to restore and preserve over 50 relics. In particular, the district is implementing the Project "Developing community tourism associated with preserving and promoting the cultural values, traditional history of ethnic groups in Dinh Hoa district for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030".
This is an important step to turn heritage into a resource for sustainable development, in line with the Prime Minister's directive: "Turning heritage into assets".

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Thai Nguyen
For the ATK Dinh Hoa National Special Historical Relic, Thai Nguyen province has invested 40 billion VND (including 20 billion VND from the budget and 20 billion VND from social sources) to renovate and repair the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House.
Along with that, at the Phong Tuong Hill Historical Site - where Uncle Ho presided over the ceremony to confer the first General rank on comrade Vo Nguyen Giap (May 28, 1948), Military Region 1 has implemented a restoration and embellishment project with a total cost of nearly 42 billion VND.
The preservation and restoration of relic sites at ATK Dinh Hoa not only shows deep gratitude and appreciation to previous generations but also has special significance in educating the younger generation about patriotic traditions.
Every year, the relic site welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors for sightseeing, study and research.
Many schools and units have chosen ATK Dinh Hoa as a place to organize extracurricular activities, recruit new team members, union members, and party members - a lively form of education, combining ideals with practical experiences.
According to Mr. Bui Huy Toan, Head of the Management Board of ATK Dinh Hoa Historical - Ecological Relic Site, the Management Board is actively applying digital transformation in the management, introduction and promotion of the relic.
“We are implementing a traffic guidance system, digitizing historical documents on the website, and coordinating to organize experiential learning programs for students at the relic site, helping visitors access the heritage in a more intuitive and vivid way,” said Mr. Toan.

Along with heritage conservation work, Dinh Hoa today is taking on a new look. Promoting the tradition of the revolutionary homeland, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the district are making efforts to build their homeland more and more prosperous and civilized.
From a district with many difficulties, Dinh Hoa has now made great strides in building new rural areas.
Looking back over the past 70 years, ATK Dinh Hoa is not only an indomitable symbol of resistance history but is also gradually becoming a resource for cultural and tourism development.
Investing in relic restoration associated with community economic development, green tourism and digital transformation is a suitable direction in the new period.
From a arduous resistance base, today Dinh Hoa is transforming strongly - both preserving the "soul" of its heritage and creating momentum for socio-economic development.
ATK Dinh Hoa heritage is not only a sacred memory of the nation but is truly becoming a valuable "asset" - the foundation for the sustainable development journey of Thai Nguyen in particular and the whole country in general.
