(PLVN) - On the morning of April 18, the Department of Home Affairs of Binh Dinh province held an information session to announce the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in the area. Accordingly, Binh Dinh province is expected to have 58 administrative units after the arrangement, including 41 communes and 17 wards.

The arrangement of commune-level administrative units aims to promote potentials and advantages, expand development space of localities; ensure that commune-level authorities effectively manage the area, grasp the situation, be close to the people, and serve the people.

According to Mr. Le Minh Tuan, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Binh Dinh province, in the work of arranging administrative units, Binh Dinh province follows the principle that communes merged into wards will become wards, communes merged into towns will become communes; priority is given to merging communes with projects located in the same two communes; favorable and suitable terrain; development motivation...

In addition, the Province also assigned the district level to proactively arrange, organize and name the new commune level.

It is known that after the reorganization, Binh Dinh province will have 58 commune-level administrative units. Of which, Quy Nhon city, An Nhon town, and Hoai Nhon town will have 17 wards and 2 communes. Binh Dinh province is one of the rare localities in the country with an island commune, Nhon Chau commune.

In particular, some names that are typical of Binh Dinh such as: Binh Dinh Ward, Quy Nhon, An Nhon, An Toan, Canh Lien... will remain the same after this rearrangement.

According to the leader of the Department of Home Affairs, after the reorganization, 100% of the civil servants will continue to work and will be gradually reduced over the next 5 years. Up to now, according to the survey, the whole province has 900 civil servants wishing to resign during this period.

For the non-professional staff, they will be laid off and instructed and assigned to work at the village and residential group levels if they wish to continue working. The province is currently posting the project on the arrangement of administrative units on the mass media and collecting opinions from all households, then submitting it to the People's Councils at the commune and district levels before April 24.
