Russian soldiers create mini cargo robots right on the front line

The Russian engineering unit “Phoenix” said that the robot they created can both carry supplies and evacuate wounded soldiers, reducing danger for soldiers in war zones.

Russia's special engineering battalion "Phoenix" has just introduced two new ground robot models, including a heavy-duty cargo version and a mini variant, serving in supplying supplies, evacuating wounded soldiers and performing a number of special technical tasks.

Under the Military Acceptance program, the unit’s cargo robot was designed with a declared payload of 120 kg. In testing, the device was able to withstand twice the declared load, about 240 kg, and still operate stably. This ability allows for carrying more supplies, ammunition, or evacuating more wounded soldiers at once.

Mobile robots transport goods and provide medical assistance in war zones.

The system is equipped with a remote anti-tank mine-laying mechanism. By integrating two functions on the same platform, the robot can both support defense and participate in medical evacuation, reducing the time to swap vehicles and personnel. “Phoenix” soldiers said that when using autonomous vehicles to move the wounded out of the danger zone, the risk of being hit by fire will be significantly reduced compared to manual movement.

The compact version, called the “Vampire Mini,” uses tracks and is specialized in transporting food, medicine, and medical supplies. Its small size makes it easy to move in narrow terrain, ruined areas, or blocked streets. Despite its lighter weight, the “Vampire Mini” still maintains the same durability and performance as the larger model, ensuring continuous operation under harsh conditions.

The combination of heavy-duty cargo robots and mini robots helps the unit allocate tasks reasonably, both maintaining supplies and speeding up the evacuation of wounded soldiers. With the ability to withstand loads exceeding standards, these robot models can also transport heavy equipment, engineering equipment or other combat support systems to the front lines.

In addition to ground robots, “Phoenix” also develops flying equipment to counter enemy drones. A previous invention is a drone-mounted firing system, which uses two launchers to fire when approaching the target. The main task is to destroy enemy UAVs, including “Baba Yaga”, Mavic and FPV. This arrangement allows for air attacks, reducing dependence on ground fire and increasing flexibility in dealing with threats.

The “Phoenix” automation solutions show the trend of applying robots in both logistics and combat. The successful testing of high-load, multi-tasking and life-saving equipment opens the way for widespread deployment on the battlefield. If mass-produced, these vehicles will help improve mobility, maintain supplies and provide rapid support to frontline forces.
