Binh Thuan organizes Vesak Buddha's Birthday Festival, Buddhist year 2569, Gregorian year 2025

BTO-On the evening of May 11, at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Phan Thiet City), the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Binh Thuan province solemnly held the Vesak Buddha's Birthday Ceremony, Buddhist year 2569, Gregorian year 2025.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Hoai Anh - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Thi Thuan Bich - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Minh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches, and sectors, local authorities of Phan Thiet City, along with monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people in the province.

At the ceremony, delegates, monks, nuns, Buddhists and people listened to the Vesak 2025 Message of the United Nations Secretary General; the Vesak Message of Buddhist calendar 2569 of the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; the Vesak 2569 Speech of the Most Venerable, President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. With the theme of this year's Vesak: "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development". The United Nations Vesak is an extremely meaningful international cultural diplomatic event of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and of the country in 2025. This event is also an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm to the international community its consistent policy of respecting and ensuring freedom of belief and religion; and the practice of religious freedom in Vietnam. This is also an opportunity for the Buddhist community and people to together awaken the light of wisdom, nurture compassion, connect people with love and understanding, and move towards a world of peace, humanity and sustainable development.

Most Venerable Thich Thong Triem - Member of the Executive Council, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee and Head of the Provincial BuddhistEducation Committee read the speech on the 2569th Buddha's Birthday Celebration by the Most Venerable Elder, President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh emphasized: "The 2025 Vesak Festival is even more meaningful when it is held on the occasion of Binh Thuan province and the whole country solemnly celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), towards the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha was chosen to host the United Nations Vesak Festival from May 6-8, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City with more than 2,700 domestic and foreign delegates attending.

The success of the 2025 Vesak Festival will enhance Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena, opening a big door for the world to know a peace-loving Vietnam, rich in cultural identity, always open to welcome friends from all over the world.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: In the past time, under the guidance and leadership of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, all monks, nuns, laypeople and Buddhists in the province have united, harmonized, and actively participated in patriotic emulation movements launched by the local government. Many monks, nuns and Buddhists not only diligently study and practice, propagate the Dharma, but also take the lead in activities that benefit the country and the people, through charity work, social security, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, disaster relief, community health care... have made important contributions to the cause of building and developing the homeland and the country, together cultivating the harmony of religion and life, towards the happiness and common prosperity of the community.

In the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes to continue to receive the attention, participation and response of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, together with all monks, nuns, laypeople and Buddhists in the province in all areas of social life; continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, strive to compete in labor, production, work and dedication to contribute to building the homeland and country more and more prosperous, leaving a good image in the hearts of every local person and tourist when visiting and traveling in Binh Thuan.

On the occasion of Buddha's Birthday (Buddhist calendar 2569, Gregorian calendar 2025), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Thuan province sent congratulatory flower baskets to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Binh Thuan province.

After the ceremony, the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized a flower car parade on the main streets of Phan Thiet City with the participation of many monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people in the province.
