The reunion of two Korean actors.
“The Defenders” revolves around the journey of diplomat Min-jun (played by Ha Jung-woo) to rescue a colleague who went missing in Lebanon 20 months ago. Although it is a very dangerous unofficial mission, Min-jun still accepts it because he desires a promotion.
As soon as he sets foot in Lebanon airport, Min-jun is relentlessly pursued by local police and gangsters, forcing him to reluctantly rely on the help of the only Korean there - driver Pan-su (played by Ju Ji-hoon).
The battle between Min-jun and Pan-su in a "foreign land" is intense every second with a series of unexpected events, captivating the audience from beginning to end.
Taking on the lead roles in the film are two of Korea's top actors - Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon, the duo who acted well together in the two parts of the film "Along with the Gods" in 2017 and 2018.
The film is directed by Kim Seon-hun. This is the second time the director has worked with actors Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon. Previously, Ha Jung-woo starred in the film “Tunnel”, while Ju Ji-hoon played the lead role in the “Kingdom” series directed by Kim Seon-hun.
The famous director compared the performance of Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon in "The Avengers" to "a rhythmic combination like a Latin dance".
To act in this film, actor Ju Ji-hoon had to gain 12kg to fit the character. The film has many action scenes, thrilling chases but also has many charming humorous situations.
“The Guardian Duo” was released in Korea in early August and received much praise.
