The new BMW X5 demonstrates its advantages in terms of balance and performance with valuable upgrades such as the driving assistance system and the completely new digital iDrive system, the curved screen design and the latest BMW operating system BMW 8.0. Meanwhile, the BMW XM stands out as the first high-performance model launched in Vietnam.
The BMW X5 is the model that created the Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) concept for BMW. Over 4 generations, more than 2.2 million BMW X5s have been delivered to customers worldwide. The new BMW X5 in the Vietnamese market will continue to make its mark in the segment thanks to its powerful design and leading technology.
I. New BMW X5 – BMW's pioneering SAV
- Pioneering design with Slim headlight
Exterior elements give the new BMW X5 a more powerful and elegant appearance. The front end is shaped by a balanced arrangement of the headlights and the characteristic BMW kidney grille. The headlights have a 35 mm slimmer contour, and the arrow-shaped daytime running lights point outwards, acting as the vehicle's turn signals. The Adaptive LED lighting system with adaptive light control combined with the BMW Selective Beam anti-dazzle feature is fitted as standard.
Features such as flat air intakes, front cladding, vertical air vents and lower air intakes than the previous version are also improvements in the design of the new BMW X5. The rear LED lights and brake lights have more prominent contours. The L-shaped LED taillights are designed in 3D to create an X shape when the two taillights are combined.
- Digital interior with new BMW Curved Display
The digital technology integrated into the interior control panel is the most valuable upgrade on the new BMW X5. The integration of the BMW 8.0 operating system and the iDrive control system allows the owner to control the car intuitively and easily. The Curved Display screen is integrated from a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch central control screen. With these upgrades, the dashboard of the new BMW X5 uses touch operations and voice control.
Standard interior equipment includes comfort seats and premium wood trim. A newly added feature is the LED ambient lighting system with prominent X5 character graphics similar to the BMW X7.
- New engine with 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
The BMW X5 is equipped as standard with a Mild Hybrid powertrain. The first component of this system is a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine, which is directly connected to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. The powerful engine combined with the all-wheel drive system allows the X5 to operate safely on a variety of terrain conditions.
The biggest innovation of the new BMW X5 is the 48V Mild Hybrid technology. The application of this technology appears in the form of an electric motor integrated directly into the gearbox. The Mild Hybrid engine produces up to 9 kW / 12 horsepower and up to 200 Nm of torque, which helps the internal combustion engine to be optimized in terms of transmission, helping the car operate smoothly, accelerate more strongly with higher efficiency.
- Latest generation inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine.
The new engine has a maximum capacity increased by 46 horsepower compared to the previous version, reaching 381 horsepower. The torque of the X5 is up to 540 Nm thanks to Mild Hybrid technology. With the above changes, the new BMW X5 is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
- New chassis technology optimizes driving performance on the new BMW X5
In the BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport version, the car uses the M adaptive suspension system, making the experience more sporty . In addition, the driver can also set the stiffness/softness of the suspension system to suit the driving modes Eco Pro, Comfort and Sport. The xDrive40i xLine version uses an air suspension system to optimize the ability to drive more smoothly and comfortably.
- Advanced driving assistance system.
The new BMW X5 is equipped with a lane departure warning system along with a collision warning system and automatic brake support. The driving assistance system on the new BMW X5 also provides parking and reversing support with a 360-degree camera.
II. First generation BMW XM – Outstanding performance on a high-chassis vehicle.
- M HYBRID – the first plug-in hybrid powertrain from BMW M.
The M Hybrid powertrain in the first-generation BMW XM offers many advantages over conventional hybrids. The new engine technology highlights the high-performance characteristics of the BMW XM with even more power and smoother acceleration. The M Hybrid is based on a high-revving V8 engine, developed with the renowned M TwinPower Turbo technology. The new BMW XM delivers a combined output of up to 653 hp (created by the smooth combination of a V8 combustion engine with up to 489 hp and an electric drive system with 197 hp).
The power of the BMW XM is demonstrated through the M xDrive 4-wheel drive system. This system distributes power from the internal combustion engine and electric motor to all 4 wheels precisely and quickly at all times. M xDrive is set to favor the rear axle, the driver can choose 4WD Sand mode when driving in areas with complex terrain.
- Unique design: Represents BMW's top-of-the-line high-performance SAV model.
The BMW XM takes inspiration from BMW’s new, modern design language. The headlights are split into two distinct sections, the kidney grille with its yellow surround and the Iconic Glow lighting system around the edge are the highlights of the front end. The lighting cluster on the BMW XM is divided into two separate areas – the positioning lights and turn signals are integrated into ultra-slim bulbs, while the Adaptive LED main lights are arranged separately just below. The horizontal grille slats are a distinctive feature of the famous BMW M GmbH sports cars, while the two kidney grilles are shaped in a distinctive octagonal shape.
In the passenger compartment, the new BMW XM offers a spacious and luxurious space with an exclusive M Lounge design, Alcantara headliner, and all door panels with three-dimensional diamond trim. Ambient Light, four-zone automatic air conditioning, and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system with 1,475-watt amplifier are all standard equipment of the BMW XM in Vietnam.
