This is a meaningful activity on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training ).
Attending the meeting were former Ministers: Nguyen Thien Nhan, Pham Vu Luan; former Deputy Ministers: Tran Xuan Nhi, Tran Van Nhung, Tran Quang Quy, Pham Manh Hung, Nguyen Thi Nghia, Nguyen Huu Do.
On the side of the Ministry of Education and Training, there were Minister Nguyen Kim Son, Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung; Deputy Secretary of the Ministry's Party Committee Nguyen Viet Loc; heads of units of the Ministry of Education and Training.
In a warm atmosphere, sending wishes of good health and thanks to former leaders of the Ministry, Minister Nguyen Kim Son also informed about some activities of the sector to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education , now the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to the Minister, this is a meaningful anniversary, not only the 80th anniversary of its founding, but also the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the Education sector, on the occasion of the opening of the first school year of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh sending a letter to students on the first opening day of school.
The opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year will also be held in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of National Education, taking place from 8:00 to 9:30 on September 5, 2025 at the National Convention Center (Hanoi), broadcast live on VTV1 - Vietnam Television and connected online to educational and training institutions nationwide.
The Minister also shared about some important activities that are about to be organized, such as: The 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Education and Training, term 2025 - 2030; Conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year, directions and tasks for the 2025-2026 school year chaired by the Prime Minister.
Informing about the important results of the education sector in recent times, the Minister emphasized that the National Assembly has passed the Law on Teachers. This is the first specialized law that fully regulates the legal status, rights, obligations and policies for teachers nationwide.
The National Assembly also issued a Resolution on universalizing preschool education for children from 3 to 5 years old; a Resolution on exemption and support of tuition fees for preschool children, general education students, and people studying general education programs at educational institutions in the national education system.
These Resolutions are very important in ensuring the right to education of all people, helping to narrow the gap in access to education between regions, ensuring equity in education, contributing to improving the quality of education and developing the country's human resources.
The Minister also shared some important tasks that the Ministry of Education and Training has been focusing on implementing. Accordingly, the focus is on amending 3 laws: Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Education, Law on Higher Education (amended), Law on Vocational Education (amended). At the same time, submit to the Politburo for consideration and promulgation of a Resolution on breakthroughs in education and training development; in which, many policies and guidelines are proposed to create breakthroughs in development, improve the quality of education and training, meet the requirements of national development in the new era...
On behalf of the former leaders of the Ministry, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan congratulated the Ministry of Education and Training on its many important achievements in recent times; especially in building institutions and creating a legal corridor to implement innovation and develop education and training with the promulgation of the Law on Teachers.
After more than 10 years of implementing Resolution 29/NQ-TW, the Politburo is preparing to issue a new Resolution. Along with that, the General Secretary always pays special attention to education - training, science, technology, innovation... This is an important opportunity for the education sector.
In his speech, Professor Nguyen Thien Nhan also emphasized and conveyed: in addition to paying attention to sustainable education about resources and energy, it is also necessary to educate about human sustainability, contributing to ensuring the longevity of the country.
