During the 3 days from May 15-17, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy led a working delegation of the Ministry of Transport to learn about the reality and experience of investment, management and operation of high-speed railways in the Federal Republic of Germany.
On the morning of May 15, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy had a working session with Ms. Susanne Henckel, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of the Federal Republic of Germany. Thanking the Secretary of State for taking the time to receive the delegation, the Deputy Minister emphasized the extensive cooperation in the field of transport in general and railways in particular between the two countries in recent times and suggested that in the coming time, the two sides continue to strengthen exchanges to promote cooperation and achieve even better results.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation worked with Siemens Group. Senior experts from Siemens shared general information about Siemens Mobility; solutions on locomotives and rolling stock to choose the right type of train; solutions on signal information, train control, and ETCS system.
On May 16, the delegation worked with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and Euler Hermes - the German Government's export credit agency. Leading officials and experts in the German finance and railway sectors exchanged and shared experiences and proposed financial solutions for the high-speed railway project in Vietnam.

Also on May 16, the delegation worked and exchanged experiences with Deutsch Bahn (DB) - a railway transport company established in 1994 from the merger of Deutsche Bundesbahn and Deutsche Reichsbahn into a state-owned joint stock company, responsible for investment management, operation and exploitation of the entire German railway system including high-speed railways, traditional railways and urban railways. This is the largest railway company in Central Europe and has been operating internationally for many years. DB experts shared experiences on German railway operation methods, the legal framework for German railways, planning and construction of high-speed railway systems.

Immediately after the working session, the delegation visited Berlin Hauptbahnhof central station, learning about the station's function as a transit point, the trend of getting closer to customers such as using services to attract customers and generating revenue from activities unrelated to ticket sales.
On May 17, after working with ICE-Depot Rummelsburg - the high-speed train maintenance unit, the delegation had a meeting with senior leaders of DB ECO company; learned about the OCC Control Center, discussed in-depth issues on high-speed rail operations in particular and the railway system in general.

At the meetings with German government agencies and enterprises, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy emphasized the development of German railways, especially in the development of high-speed railway technology. The Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to German agencies and enterprises for their willingness to share with the Vietnamese delegation their experiences in investment, construction, management, operation and exploitation of high-speed railways.
“This is valuable knowledge and experience for us to refer to in the process of researching investment in high-speed railways in Vietnam,” said Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy, at the same time suggesting that the two sides actively exchange, seek and realize cooperation in the field of transport in general and railways in particular.
