According to the Ministry of Home Affairs , implementing the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Minister of Home Affairs announces to administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises and other employers the schedule of the Lunar New Year holiday of Binh Ngo 2026.

For cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations, the Lunar New Year holiday is 5 days off according to regulations, including 1 day before Tet and 4 days after Tet.
Specifically, the official Tet holiday starts from Monday, February 16, 2026 (December 29, year of the Snake) to Friday, February 20, 2026 (January 4, year of the Horse).
Because the Tet holiday falls between 4 weekly holidays, civil servants and public employees will have 9 consecutive days off, from February 14 to February 22, 2026 (ie from December 27, At Ty year to January 6, Binh Ngo year).
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that agencies and units implementing the Lunar New Year holiday schedule must arrange and organize their departments on duty according to regulations and work reasonably to handle work continuously, ensuring good service to organizations and people. Assign officers and civil servants on duty to handle sudden and unexpected work that may occur during the holidays and Tet according to regulations.
Ministries, agencies and localities have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively implement measures to develop production, business and socio -economic activities.
This content aims to ensure supply and demand of goods and services, stabilize prices and markets, contribute to promoting economic growth, practice thrift, and combat waste before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday.
For agencies and units that do not have a fixed weekly Saturday and Sunday off schedule, the specific program and plan of the unit will be used to arrange a suitable off schedule, in accordance with the provisions of law.
For employees and employers in the non-public sector, the unit decides to choose the Lunar New Year holiday plan as follows:
Choose to take 1 day off at the end of the year of At Ty and the first 4 days of the year of Binh Ngo or 2 days off at the end of the year of At Ty and the first 3 days of the year of Binh Ngo or 3 days off at the end of the year of At Ty and the first 2 days of the year of Binh Ngo.
Units must notify employees of the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
The Ministry of Home Affairs encourages employers to apply the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday period for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees. The State also encourages more favorable agreements for employees.
