The Ministry of Information and Communications will strictly handle the phenomenon of online gangster movies advertising gambling.

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) will coordinate with relevant authorities to take strict measures to handle the phenomenon of a number of short films with online gangster content on YouTube advertising gambling websites.

The information was given at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Information and Communications held on the afternoon of June 5.

According to the Office of the Ministry of Information and Communications , the situation of livestreaming advertising pornographic and gambling applications on social networking platforms has become increasingly popular and has been happening openly recently.

In addition, the phenomenon of some short films with online gangster content, premiered on the YouTube platform and the situation of service vehicles openly advertising gambling websites with decals have also been reported and recorded by the press.

The Ministry of Information and Communications requests that press agencies continue to promote information dissemination and warnings to the public. At the same time, specialized units under the Ministry of Information and Communications are also responsible for coordinating with relevant authorities to take measures to strictly handle this phenomenon.

Affirming that the Ministry of Information and Communications has been fiercely fighting against cross-border social networking platforms, the Ministry's Office further informed that from April 15, 2023 to May 15, 2023, at the request of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Facebook blocked and removed more than 399 articles posting false information and propaganda against the Party, the State, brands, individuals and organizations, reaching a rate of 91%; Google removed 1,901 violating videos on YouTube, reaching a rate of 94%; and TikTok blocked and removed 51 violating links posting false information and negative content, reaching a rate of 98%.

One of the key tasks that the Ministry of Information and Communications will focus on this June is to continue to comprehensively inspect Tiktok's operations in Vietnam.

Previously, in the report to the National Assembly on the results of the implementation of the Resolution on questioning activities related to the field of information and communications, the Ministry of Information and Communications informed about the solutions that will be deployed in the coming time, including studying international experience on algorithm management solutions of cross-border social networking platforms, especially Tiktok; from there, proposing solutions to be deployed in Vietnam such as tightening management, requiring the provision of content suggestion algorithms to the Government to monitor data collection, prevent addiction, and direct information to users, etc.

At the same time, strengthen the direction, orientation and management of information on the network environment, especially on cross-border platforms. Maintain a high rate of blocking and removing bad and toxic content; research and develop automatic tools to scan for violations of cross-border advertising; organize, coordinate the scanning and handling of artists and KOLs who violate the law after the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issues the Procedure for handling people working in the art field who violate the law...
