Minister of National Defense receives Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam

Minister Phan Van Giang congratulated Mr. Giorgio Aliberti on a successful term in Vietnam, making an important contribution to promoting Vietnam - European Union (EU) relations in general and cooperation in the defense sector in particular.

General Phan Van Giang affirmed that defense cooperation has been effectively implemented by both sides, in line with the framework of the Vietnam - EU Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA), the Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the European Union on establishing a framework for Vietnam's participation in crisis management activities with the EU (FPA).

Minister Phan Van Giang highly appreciated the achievements in defense cooperation between the two sides, notably: Defense and security dialogue; training, United Nations peacekeeping and support in overcoming the consequences of war.

Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti thanked Minister Phan Van Giang for taking the time to receive the delegation and sharing many good memories about the country and people after 4 years of working in Vietnam. The Ambassador highly appreciated the close cooperation between Vietnam and the European Union, affirming that the Vietnam - European Union relationship has developed very strongly, and has much potential for further development in the future. The European Union has cooperated closely with Vietnam in many areas such as: COVID-19 prevention and control, supporting Vietnam to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations... In the relationship, defense cooperation has many contents implemented effectively and practically.

Minister Phan Van Giang believes that in his new position, the Ambassador will continue to achieve many successes, contributing to promoting the cooperative relationship between the EU and Vietnam, for peace, stability, cooperation and common development of the region and the world.
