Reporting to Minister Dang Quoc Khanh and the working delegation, Party Secretary and Director of the Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Station Le Van Hung said that since its establishment (According to Decision No. 68/TTg dated February 23, 1994 of the Prime Minister ) up to now, with a spirit of high determination, enthusiasm and responsibility, the collective of officers, civil servants and employees of the Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Station have constantly strived, step by step building the unit increasingly stronger in all areas of work.
Regarding the current tasks that the Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Station is performing, the Station always ensures the stable operation of the hydrometeorological and environmental station network throughout the Station, including: 18 meteorological stations; 16 hydrological stations; 34 automatic people's rain gauges; 81 automatic rain gauges; 01 Pleiku weather radar station, 02 Pilot high-altitude wind measuring stations (Pleiku and Buon Ma Thuot) 05 meteorological stations that automatically measure 2 factors of temperature and rainfall (Point Forecast Project) 02 automatic radiation measuring stations (Pleiku and Da Lat) 01 Pleiku lightning positioning station; 01 Pleiku automatic environmental station; 30 automatic, upgraded hydrometeorological stations, water resources under the Mekong Water Resources Integration Project; 04 automatic water level measuring stations (Hycos) 05 river water environmental stations; 03 air environmental stations.
Hydrometeorological and environmental stations have performed well the tasks of monitoring, measuring, collecting data in a timely and accurate manner, providing data for forecasting; ensuring absolute safety of archived documents; transmitting complete and accurate hydrometeorological information and data to serve forecasting and directing natural disaster prevention and control for all levels, sectors and localities...
Reporting further to the working delegation, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Hydrometeorology La Duc Dung said that the Hydrometeorological Station also regularly participates with the working delegation of the General Department of Hydrometeorology to inspect the use of hydrometeorological data information for socio-economic development projects using the state budget; works with localities on the implementation and enforcement of legal documents and state management responsibilities in the field of hydrometeorology at the local level.
At the meeting, the Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Station also proposed and recommended that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment consider and allocate funds to invest in purchasing and replacing spare parts and equipment of hydrometeorological stations in the national hydrometeorological station network in the Central Highlands region.
Minister Dang Quoc Khanh praised and highly appreciated the collective of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the hydrometeorology sector in general and the Tay Nguyen Hydrometeorology Station in particular for always upholding the spirit of responsibility, overcoming difficulties and hardships, working silently, and making every effort to complete the assigned tasks well.
In the coming time, with the practical situation of Vietnam's climate, being one of the six countries that will be severely affected by climate change, the task of the hydrometeorology sector is very important. The Minister requested that the officers of the sector, of the Central Highlands Hydrometeorology Station, need to unite, inherit and maximize existing resources, and synchronize towards modernization. In particular, it is necessary to improve professional qualifications, considering investment in science, technology and human resource training as the main solution for development.
Minister Dang Quoc Khanh also suggested that units of the Hydrometeorological sector need to coordinate regularly and closely with units in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, with localities, share experiences and cooperate internationally to jointly develop scenarios to respond to climate change in the new context, to both improve professional skills, link forecasting with warning, and at the same time provide solutions for localities and sectors to have strategic orientations in the coming time.
The Minister assigned the General Department of Hydrometeorology and the Department of Planning and Finance of the Ministry to support regional Hydrometeorological Stations to invest in facilities and human resources, so that the professional work of the Hydrometeorological sector will be: "Better", "More effective" and "More adaptive" in the future.
Also at the meeting, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh and the delegation inspected the new headquarters of the Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Station. Here, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh encouraged the construction staff, oriented and directed so that when the project is completed, it will be used effectively, for the right purpose, in accordance with the law and support professional work better.
