Speaking at the reception, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung thanked the ruling party of Burundi for creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest, do business and open the Lumitel network in Burundi.

The Minister said that Vietnam considers telecommunications infrastructure as important as transport infrastructure. To date, telecommunications infrastructure has become the foundation for developing the digital economy and digital government. The Vietnamese government has also encouraged telecommunications enterprises to provide 4G and 5G coverage.

In addition, Vietnam has developed digital platforms to help people shop online and develop virtual assistants (AI) for civil servants of agencies and units.

With experience in developing telecommunications, digital infrastructure and the internet, the Ministry of Information and Communications is ready to support and share experiences so that Burundi can develop the country rapidly.

Overview of the working session

Secretary General of the National Council for the Defense of Democracy - Forces for the Defense of Democracy of Burundi, Mr. Ndikuriyo Reverien expressed his pleasure at the support and cooperation of Vietnam, especially the Ministry of Information and Communications, towards Burundi.

Mr. Ndikuriyo Reverien said that 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Burundi and Vietnam are two countries with similar historical and cultural conditions, having experienced the resistance war against colonialism and having a good cooperative relationship. He hopes that in the coming year, the two countries will sign many cooperation agreements, especially the agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official officials of the two countries, and at the same time further develop the long-term cooperative relationship.

Emphasizing the important role of Lumitel in Buruni, Mr. Ndikuriyo Reverien said that Lumitel has promoted the relationship between Vietnam and Burundi, helping the two countries become closer and understand each other better. Lumitel not only helps Buruni develop in terms of telecommunications, but also opens up many opportunities for cooperation in other fields. Lumitel has become a bridge connecting the two countries, promoting comprehensive exchanges and cooperation, thereby bringing benefits to both sides, at the same time, contributing to building a strong, long-term relationship between Vietnam and Burundi./.
