The two sides discussed and exchanged on the possibility of cooperation to promote Vietnam's culture, tourism and digital transformation in the fields of tourism, culture, arts and entertainment.
Many projects support the promotion of Vietnamese tourism and culture
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong thanked Google for supporting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in promoting and introducing the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam to the public around the world , through important projects.
According to the Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh, the "Wonders of Vietnam" project was launched in January 2021 on the online platform Google Arts & Culture (GAC) with 35 online exhibitions and more than 1,300 photos of famous tourist destinations, heritages, natural landscapes, culture and cuisine of Vietnam (https://artsandculture.google.com/search?q=Vietnam).
These exhibitions have honored the natural landscapes, tangible and intangible heritages recognized by UNESCO of Quang Binh, Ninh Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam.

Google Arts & Culture is a non-profit digital museum that preserves and introduces unique cultural and artistic values of countries around the world. Over the past 10 years, this giant digital museum has cooperated with 3,000 partners from 90 countries and territories around the world, including famous museums such as: Tate Gallery, London, UK; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA... to introduce unique values, the quintessence of world culture.
Google has provided 3 tools including: Art Camera (high resolution and high detail works of art), Google Street View (remote experience of cultural and artistic destinations thanks to digital platform) and Table Top Scanner (view large collections and antiques).
Through these tools, tourist attractions, museums, relics... in Vietnam can record images, videos and post them on the Google storage platform, helping tourists around the world to easily access and visit 3D, 360-degree images, free explanations...
The "Vibrant Vietnam" project was also officially released online on the GAC platform in July 2024, focusing on introducing the community of 54 ethnic groups along with diverse natural features stretching from North to South of Vietnam (https://artsandculture.google.com/project/vibrant-vietnam-people-places-nature).
Thereby depicting the deep connection between human life and nature and highlighting the unique and valuable cultural features of Vietnam.

In particular, in the field of tourism, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh highly appreciated Google for coordinating the implementation of the Vietnam Tourism Communication Program on the YouTube digital platform with the theme "Vietnam: Go to love!" (2021-2022). The program has officially launched 5 clips with the themes: "Country, people"; "Cultural and culinary destinations"; "Immense sea calls"; "Return to Ninh Binh"; "Roam Phu Quoc".
This project has attracted the active participation of many famous and influential content creators on social networks. The video clips have attracted millions of views on the YouTube platform, receiving great attention from the public and the press.
Google also launched a training program to improve capacity and digital skills for small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam, including tourism businesses. In June 2020 and November 2020, Google coordinated with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (now the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism) to organize two online seminars: "Take Off! Domestic Tourism" and "Online Tourism Solutions for Localities".
"This is practical and effective support in the context of Vietnam's tourism industry promoting digital transformation, exploiting values from the digital environment, contributing to tourism recovery and more sustainable development in the coming time," Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, Google also shared with the tourism industry information on the demand for digital information about Vietnam tourism through Travel Insights tools (including Destination Insights, Hotel Insights and Travel Analytics Center). From there, Vietnam Tourism has exploited and disseminated to localities and tourism businesses to grasp market trends, support the recovery of the tourism industry of localities in particular and Vietnam tourism in general.
Expanding cooperation and support to develop comprehensive culture, sports and tourism
Recommending some contents to promote cooperation with Google in the coming time, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said that in the field of perfecting policies on culture and tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hopes that Google will pay attention to and share international experiences on the laws of countries around the world related to the development of cultural industries, the system of policies on culture and tourism in the coming time, including legal regulations on performing arts, fine arts, photography and exhibitions...

In the field of tourism, the Deputy Minister proposed to continue promoting cooperation activities between Google and the Vietnamese tourism industry based on priorities of strongly innovating content and methods of tourism promotion and advertising; building a smart tourism ecosystem associated with digital transformation, green transformation, promoting administrative procedure reform in tourism associated with digital transformation; developing tourism human resources; supporting the tourism industry to effectively exploit Google's digital tools...
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also requested Google to continue to pay attention to effectively implementing projects to promote the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam on the online platform Google Arts & Culture.
Based on the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a representative of Google Group said that it will continue to implement projects to support communication and promote Vietnamese tourism and culture; support digital transformation and digital content creation in the fields managed by the Ministry.
In particular, YouTube will select and invite a number of famous content creators in key markets to Vietnam to promote Vietnam's landscapes and culture to these markets and internationally; continue to support the YouTube channel of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
Regarding the Google Art & Culture platform, we are discussing with the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) to deploy some UNESCO-recognized sites on the platform, and discuss the possibility of localities proactively building online exhibitions with technical support from Google Art & Culture.
In the tourism sector, Google is working with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to support tourism businesses by organizing seminars, training, and introducing free Google tourism products. Support some businesses that need to build marketing plans using Google products to develop in foreign markets.

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong highly appreciated Google Doodles, especially the times when major, typical and special events of Vietnam were updated on this page in prominent positions. In addition, the Deputy Minister said that Google plays a big role in developing tourism and cultural industry in Vietnam.
Regarding Google's proposal to amend Vietnam's Advertising Law, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong acknowledged Google's comments to ensure that the amended Law will create fair opportunities for businesses when participating in advertising in the digital environment. The Deputy Minister said that he will assign relevant agencies of the Ministry to receive comments from companies and corporations, and synthesize them during the process of drafting the Law to be submitted to the National Assembly for approval.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will accompany localities to continue implementing projects with Google. Support Vietnamese businesses, create promotional conditions for businesses to take the lead in bringing Vietnamese tourism products to the world, especially to the US market.
Deputy Minister Ho An Phong hopes to connect Vietnamese cinema with the United States. This is one of the ways to introduce destinations, including filming locations, the cultural quintessence of Vietnam, which can be combined with Hollywood movies...; from there, there will be major cinema projects filmed in Vietnam.
