On March 20, the Ministry of Health informed about the promulgation and implementation of the 2nd measles vaccination plan in 2025 to quickly control the measles epidemic.
Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-TTg dated March 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister on strengthening measles prevention and control, to continue to proactively deploy measles vaccination measures, on March 18, 2025, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 905/QD-BYT approving the implementation of the 2nd measles vaccination plan in 2025 in 54 provinces and cities and directed the organization of catch-up vaccination for children who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine in Decisions No. 906/QD-BYT and Decision No. 909/QD-BYT dated March 18, 2025.
The plan is implemented to vaccinate many subjects:
Children from 6 months to under 9 months old will be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles vaccine.
Children aged 6-10 who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated with measles-containing vaccine will each be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine.
Children aged 1-5 who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine will be given catch-up doses (using measles-containing vaccine in the Expanded Immunization Program according to the Expanded Immunization Plan for 2025).
Recently, the Ministry of Health has promptly mobilized and received an additional 500,000 doses of measles vaccine to distribute all of these vaccines to localities across the country.
The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has also allocated vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program to vaccinate children aged 1-5 who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine.
The Ministry of Health has directed localities to urgently deploy and ensure vaccination is completed by March 31 at the latest./.
