The Ministry of Health proposed a plan to arrange hospitals and units.

According to the arrangement plan of the Ministry of Health, from 39 hospitals under the ministry, there will be only 25 hospitals under the ministry.

The Ministry of Health has just proposed a plan to rearrange units in the industry in the spirit of Resolution 18-NQ/TW.

Specifically, according to the plan proposed by the Ministry of Health , the hospital block will be merged, leaving 25 hospitals under the Ministry of Health (from 39 hospitals under the Ministry).

Frontline hospitals such as Bach Mai Hospital, K Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, National Children's Hospital, National Maternity Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Thong Nhat Hospital... will continue to be under the Ministry of Health to ensure their leading role in treatment, training and scientific research. Some specialized hospitals will be merged into central general hospitals or large-scale units such as: E Hospital will become a facility under Bach Mai Hospital; Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital will be merged into Thong Nhat Hospital; Can Tho Orthopedic - Rehabilitation Hospital will be merged into Can Tho General Hospital.... Many specialized hospitals are proposed to be handed over in their original state to localities to further decentralize management such as: Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 (transferred to Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee), Quy Hoa Central Leprosy - Dermatology Hospital (transferred to Gia Lai Province), Central Hospital 74 (transferred to Phu Tho Province) and Quang Nam Central General Hospital (transferred to Da Nang City).

Some hospitals were transferred to become practice hospitals for medical universities, such as: Danang Orthopedic - Rehabilitation Hospital transferred to Danang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy; Central Hospital 71 and Central Rehabilitation Nursing Hospital transferred to Hanoi Medical University.

With the prevention and inspection system, the Ministry of Health proposed that the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology will continue to be under the Ministry of Health, and at the same time become the focal point to perform the functions of the central CDC; the Institute of Nutrition, the Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health and the Central Institute of Malaria - Parasitology - Entomology will be merged into the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. The Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Malaria - Parasitology - Entomology and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Public Health will be merged into the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City.

The system of inspection institutes, forensic medicine and basic vaccine and medical biological product research units will be maintained to ensure stability in controlling the quality of drugs, vaccines and food safety.

Regarding the block of medical training facilities, there will be adjustments to streamline the network such as: Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy will receive Hai Duong University of Medical Technology; Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy will merge into Hanoi University of Pharmacy.

Key universities such as Hanoi Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Nam Dinh University of Nursing... are still under the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health also reviewed specific units such as the Communications Center, the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, the National Drug Centralized Procurement Center, etc. Most of the units are still under the Ministry of Health.

With the SOS Vietnam system and the grassroots SOS system received by the Ministry of Health from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Health proposed to transfer the system to the People's Committees of the provinces for management.
