The Ministry of Health requested to review the announcement and self-announcement of ByHeart Whole Nutrition milk contaminated with bacteria causing infant poisoning.

The Ministry of Health requests the Department of Health of provinces/cities; the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City; the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of provinces and cities to review the registration of declarations and self-declarations for ByHeart Whole formula milk products.

Informing Health and Life on the evening of November 20, Dr. Pharmacist Chu Quoc Thinh - Acting Director of the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ) said that during the day, the Department sent a document to the Department of Health of provinces/cities under the central government; Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City; Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of provinces/cities under the central government regarding the warning about the formula milk product ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on November 19, 2025, that the International Food Safety Authority (INFOSAN) had notified of an ongoing case of infant botulism in the United States related to the consumption of contaminated ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.

As of November 17, 2025, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported 23 suspected and confirmed cases across 13 states, all of whom have required hospitalization.

Parents and caregivers in the United States are advised to immediately stop using any ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula products, including all lot numbers, all can sizes, and single-serve packages.

Currently, ByHeart Inc, USA (manufacturer) is voluntarily recalling all batches of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula on the market.

To ensure consumer health, the Food Safety Department requests the Department of Health , the Department of Food Safety, and the Food Safety Sub-Departments of provinces and cities to urgently implement a number of contents, specifically:

• Review the registration of declarations and self-declarations for the formula milk product ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula manufactured by ByHeart Inc., USA.
• Work with the company that announced the ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula product (if any), request the company to notify distributors and consumers to stop using the product and recall it according to the manufacturer's recommendations, report (quantity imported, quantity sold, quantity remaining) and propose measures to handle these product batches.
• Inform consumers not to use all batches of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula products mentioned above.

The Food Safety Department requests a report on the handling results to the Department before November 28, 2025.
