As of November 20, organizations and individuals have donated more than VND126 billion to the fund to support city residents affected by floods. Together with the remaining fund of more than VND21 billion after the province merger, the total amount currently available is over VND147 billion.
From this fund, more than 17 billion VND has been allocated to people in affected areas. Regarding goods, the city has received 308 tons (worth about 8.8 billion VND), of which 293 tons have been distributed, with 15 tons remaining.
All received goods were promptly distributed to affected households by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city in coordination with the Military Command and the City Red Cross, ensuring publicity, transparency and proper purpose.
At the meeting, members discussed the proposal for the City Relief Mobilization Committee to issue a specific support framework to simplify the appraisal and disbursement process. This support framework will stipulate spending levels for many items: evacuating people from disaster and epidemic areas; building temporary camps, environmental sanitation to prevent epidemics; purchasing medical supplies; supporting plant and animal varieties to restore production; urgent repair of essential works and implementation of social security policies at the local level.
The meeting also requested the City People's Committee to provide a list and propose specific levels of support from the relief fund. The Department of Agriculture and Environment was assigned to propose a plan to use the funds to support each target group. At the same time, the City Civil Defense Command will propose the purchase of necessary equipment for disaster prevention, mitigation, and rescue, especially for emergency or non-regulated cases.
Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Le Tri Thanh requested members and relevant agencies to urgently carry out their tasks, ensuring that support work for localities affected by natural disasters must be deployed quickly and promptly.
