Working all night to wrap banh chung and send it to flood areas
In recent days, the house of Mrs. Tran Thi Lien in Nam Dinh village (Tam Anh commune) has always been lit up, bustling with people coming and going. Originally a food business, the house has become a gathering place for nearly a hundred people to wrap Chung cakes to send to people in flooded areas of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen (old) and the Central Highlands provinces.
Ms. Lien shared that when she heard about the rice cake wrapping to support the flood victims, her whole family immediately put their work aside. “Lots of people came. Some rolled sticky rice, some washed leaves, some watched the pot of rice cakes all night. Everyone just wanted to send a little warmth to the people in distress,” Ms. Lien shared.

This activity was initiated by Mr. Truong Van Vuong. He confided: “Witnessing the flash floods and houses being swept away in the Central Highlands, we could not sit still. When the appeal was posted on social media, within a few hours, people and many benefactors brought sticky rice, banana leaves, firewood, and green beans to contribute. There were trucks carrying banana leaves from Tien Phuoc and Hiep Duc to Tam Anh to wrap the cakes in time.”

In just two days, more than 700 kg of sticky rice and 1200 kg of mung beans were wrapped and cooked into 6,000 banh chung by the people. The cakes were vacuum-sealed and carefully packaged to ensure long-distance transportation. Many benefactors also sent instant noodles, bread, drinks, etc.
The packing and loading stages were carried out urgently in time for the truck to leave on the morning of November 23.

Shining the light of compatriotism
Not only Tam Anh, in recent days, the spirit of sharing has spread throughout the communes and wards of Da Nang city. Having just experienced a natural disaster, life is still chaotic but people still think of the places that have suffered more severe damage. From the "flood center" of Que Phuoc commune to the villages still marked by landslides in Nong Son commune, donation activities have taken place with a spirit of urgency.

In Que Phuoc commune, after the government, the Fatherland Front and organizations launched a fundraising campaign, people in the villages of Dui Chieng, Xuan Hoa, Dong An, Phuoc Hoi, Mau Long... responded positively.
From early morning, despite the rain, people brought all kinds of gifts such as rice, instant noodles, candy, clothes, cooking oil, etc. to the village cultural house. Each person had a hand, folding the gifts, tying the strings themselves, everyone hoping that the gifts sent would be both materially complete and heartfelt.
Ms. Tran Thi Nga (Mau Long village) was busy cleaning up her house that was flooded in early November, but when the village launched the campaign, she and her husband still prepared 200,000 VND in cash, a box of instant noodles and 5 kg of rice to support people in the flooded areas.
"My family is still very poor, but compared to many other places, we are still lucky. Please contribute whatever you can, hoping that the people there can help a little," said Ms. Nga.

In Binh Yen village, after the first launch, people donated 15 million VND, nearly 200 kg of rice and dozens of boxes of instant noodles and other necessities. In Xuan Hoa village, people contributed more than 150 boxes of instant noodles, 500 kg of rice and nearly 10 million VND in just a few days.
The movement towards the flooded areas quickly spread to Nong Son commune. In recent days, loudspeakers and social networks have continuously reported on the flood situation in Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa. After only a few hours, the villages of Dai Binh, Trung Phuoc 1, Trung Phuoc 2, Trung Ha... began to gather essential goods to prepare for transport to Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces.
Ms. Ha Thi Anh (Dai Binh village) shared: "Seeing the flash floods these past few days has been heartbreaking. I have just harvested a few potatoes, kept enough to eat, and sent the rest away. I just hope that whoever receives them will have less difficulty."
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, Head of Dai Binh village, said that in just a few days, people and benefactors contributed dozens of tons of food, more than 3,000 banh chung and dozens of kilos of banh bot loc. The gifts were rustic, simple but full of love.

In Nong Son commune, many villages still have traces of landslides and roads are cut off, but people still proactively gather goods early so as not to miss the relief truck. Bags of sticky rice to wrap cakes, bundles of vegetables hastily picked from the garden, all are donated in the spirit of "contributing what is available".
Many households in Mau Long, Binh Yen, and Xuan Hoa villages (Nong Son commune) had just finished clearing the mud and temporarily rebuilding their barns, but when they heard that the South Central provinces had suffered more severe damage, many people took the opportunity to bring instant noodles and necessities to the donation site.
For many days now, the associations, unions, and Fatherland Front of Nong Son commune have been coordinating smoothly, with some mobilizing, others guiding the classification of relief goods, and others assigning tasks to arrange them on the vehicles.

On the evening of November 22, the relief team of Dai Binh - Nong Son - Que Phuoc and the benefactors of Da Nang set off. The team consisted of 7 vehicles (5 trucks, 2 cars) loaded with necessities, heading to Thien Quang Pagoda (Phuoc Son commune), the relief goods receiving point of Gia Lai province.
At the destination, monks, Buddhists and local people organized the unloading, sorting and delivery of goods that very night. Each box of noodles and each bag of rice was carefully arranged to be delivered promptly to the villages and communes of Gia Lai province that were still isolated.
