On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing solemnly held a meeting to express gratitude to Vietnamese journalists and reporters working in China.
The event took place in a warm and solemn atmosphere with the participation of many diplomatic officials, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad and representatives of Vietnamese press agencies in China.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh reviewed the glorious journey of Vietnam's revolutionary press, starting with the establishment of Thanh Nien newspaper in 1925, founded by President Ho Chi Minh .
The Ambassador affirmed: “The news agency was born very early, demonstrating the pioneering role and mission of the revolutionary press. Even before the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam , before the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born or other ministries and branches were established, the press went ahead, paved the way, and played the role of a pioneering force in the revolutionary cause."
Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh emphasized four key words associated with the development of revolutionary journalism and the role of Vietnamese journalism in China.
Firstly, “pioneer” - shown through its early birth and pioneering role in the Vietnamese revolutionary cause.
Second, “China” - a particularly important area. The Ambassador emphasized: “Through China, we can clearly feel the stature and importance of the friendly neighborly relationship between Vietnam and China since the early days of the revolution. Our revolutionary cause cannot succeed without cooperation, solidarity and consensus between the two peoples."
Third, “Ho Chi Minh” - The founder and leader of revolutionary journalism. The Ambassador emphasized: “President Ho Chi Minh himself was the one who founded, led and accompanied the press throughout the revolutionary process, from national liberation, national defense to national construction. This is a great honor for journalists."
Fourth, “National Salvation Youth” - a symbol of the aspirations, youthfulness and noble mission of journalism. From the beginning, journalism has been associated with patriotism, dedication and sacrifice.
According to Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh, “journalists not only report news but are also soldiers on the ideological front. Some have sacrificed on the battlefield, others have fallen silently. In peacetime, they continue to devote themselves, making an important contribution to the protection and development of the country."
Commenting on the current press context, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh said: “The press is facing many challenges and pressures to innovate in the digital age. This is a common law of society and the world. However, I believe that the Vietnamese revolutionary press will continue to promote its noble mission, maintaining its role as a core force in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland."
In particular, the Ambassador acknowledged and appreciated the presence and contributions of Vietnamese press agencies in Beijing, especially the Vietnam News Agency, who have accompanied the Embassy in reporting timely and objective news, conveying the image of Vietnam to Chinese friends, and at the same time making an important contribution to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.
On the same day, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing also organized a sports exchange tournament with the participation of embassy staff, representatives of resident agencies and Vietnamese press reporters working in China.
The tournament not only created an exciting and united atmosphere but also strengthened the bond between journalists and the Vietnamese community in Beijing. This was also an opportunity for reporters to temporarily leave the "information front," exercise together, relax and recharge for the challenging but very proud journey of journalism./.
