Indeed, a 5-game final match could be considered a feast for the eyes. But the result was not different from what was predicted, when Border Guard still defeated The Cong Tan Cang with a score of 3-2 to take the title.

Border Guard Domination

There are many things to say about the victory of Border Defense. First, they are the only team to win all matches in this year's tournament. Among them are 7 group stage matches, 1 semi-final match and 1 final match. More broadly, Border Defense is also the team that has been undefeated in all domestic tournaments in 2025. Before the national championship ended, they won both the Hoa Lu Cup and the Hung Vuong Cup.

This shows that Coach Tran Dinh Tien's team is too dominant in domestic tournaments. Even against a strong team like Ho Chi Minh City Police, Border Guard still won. In the final match of the recent National Championship, they experienced nervous and tense moments against The Cong. But in the end, the victory still belonged to Border Guard after 5 games, a result that was not surprising.

In one aspect, the dominance of Border Defense is a good thing. This is a rare team with a very "good" domestic squad, so it does not have to depend on foreign players. The only foreign player of Border Defense is Thai striker Jakkrit Thanomnoi. It is not correct to say that this is a bad hitter, because he participated in the U21 Volleyball World Cup, and was also the best striker of the Thai Championship in the 2024-2025 season.

But the general style of play of Bien Phong does not focus on Jakkrit alone. Even the Vietnamese athletes are the real stars that bring the team to the championship. Obviously, with the capture of all 3 domestic titles, Bien Phong is a clear difference compared to the rest of Vietnamese volleyball.

Worried about boredom?

This is the second consecutive year that Border Guard has won the national championship. Obviously, at this time, it is difficult for any team in the country to compare with them.

Take The Cong for example, although they were able to drag Border Guard to the 5th game of the final, it was clear that their strength was still different. To be fair, The Cong was able to do that thanks to the great contribution of Indonesian foreign player Rivan Nurmulki.

Otherwise, their domestic players would have lost early. Another case is Ho Chi Minh City Police, when they invested heavily in foreign players. But in return, their domestic players were not that excellent. That is why when they lost Michal Kubiak, the police team could not overcome The Cong in the semi-finals.

This raises concerns that the National Volleyball Championship will become boring not only this year but also in many years to come. But in sports there are always many surprises. Surely the teams with potential will find ways to narrow the gap with Border Guard. For example, The Cong, although the main squad is not really stable, has a young generation with abundant potential.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police Force is also a notable case. This year, in addition to spending money on foreign soldiers, they have also significantly increased their domestic force. Therefore, from next year or many years to come, it is uncertain whether the Border Guard will be able to maintain its position against the rise of the remaining teams.
