Immediately after the matches in the Philippines ended, the 5 teams quickly moved to Jakarta (Indonesia), where all the matches in the second round of SEA V.League 2025 will take place. The bronze medal in the last round was an unexpected result for coach Tran Dinh Tien's team, if we look back at the fact that the Vietnamese team lost all 6/6 matches, ranking last in both rounds of SEA V.League 2024.
No team could topple the "monument" Thailand, the reigning champion of the tournament, except for the "Golden Star Warriors" with an unbelievable comeback that lasted 4 games. Winning against the toughest team, but losing 0-3 to the host Philippines in the opening match and then narrowly losing 2-3 to Indonesia in the final round caused the Vietnamese team to miss the chance to compete for the championship.
With an extremely unfavorable schedule of playing for 4 consecutive days, the physical strength of the Vietnamese players was really exhausted in the first leg. This explains why the starting lineup of the Vietnamese team in the final match against Indonesia consisted mostly of players who had been on the bench before. Therefore, the team had to accept a very regrettable 2-3 defeat.

A collective ranking and two individual titles (Nguyen Ngoc Thuan received the "Best Main Attacker" award and Tran Duy Tuyen received the "Best Middle Attacker" award) are worthy recognitions. That will certainly be the motivation for the Vietnamese players to make more efforts in the return leg.
For now, the third place in the first leg has become extremely useful for the Vietnamese team, at least bringing about an adjustment in the competition schedule. After successively facing Cambodia (July 16), Indonesia (July 17) and Thailand (July 18), Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates will have a full day of rest before taking the field for the final match against the Philippines on July 20.
If the players play with stable performance like in the first round and the coaching staff is flexible in tactics as well as military plans, competing for a high ranking in the second round of SEA V.League does not seem to be beyond the reach of the Vietnamese men's team.
At the Future Stars International Women's Volleyball Tournament taking place in Shanghai (China), the Vietnamese team finished the group stage with two wins (3-0 against U21 France, 3-1 against U21 Bauru, Brazil) and one loss (0-3 against U21 China). Ranked second in Group A and qualified for the quarter-finals, the next opponent of coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and her team is the third-placed team in Group B.
