Indonesian women's volleyball team at risk of being 'destroyed' after getting a spot for U21 Vietnam

After the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) canceled some results of the Vietnam U21 team, host Indonesia was the team that benefited the most.

Before the results were changed, they had only won one match against the weakest team in the group, Canada. After the FIVB decision, Indonesia had won two matches.

From 5th place, they jumped to 3rd place in Group A and got a ticket to the round of 16. This can be considered the joy of Indonesian women's volleyball.

However, that joy may not last too long. According to the arrangement, the third-place team in Group A will have to face the second-place team in Group C in the round of 16.

So who is the next opponent of the Indonesian women's volleyball team? It is the Italian U21 team, a volleyball powerhouse and a candidate for the 2025 U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup.

Italy have reached the finals of the tournament three times in a row. They won in 2021 and finished second in 2019 and 2023. In the most recent U21 Women's World Cup rankings, Italy ranked second. Meanwhile, Indonesia's U21 team ranked 62nd.

At the national level, the Italian women's volleyball team is the current Olympic champion. They are also the world's number 1. Along with that, they are achieving a "super miracle" with 29 consecutive wins.

It can be seen that the difference in level between the two volleyball backgrounds is very large. Even the European representative can completely create a "destructive" victory.

But anyway, for Indonesian women's volleyball, being able to participate in the round of 16 at the world playground right on home ground is already a joy.
