Recently, a Chiron Pur Sport had a serious accident in the US after colliding with a pickup truck. The collision caused severe damage to the front of the car, while the rear was fortunately almost intact. The incident quickly attracted attention in the global car enthusiast community, especially when Matt Armstrong - a British YouTuber famous for his supercar restoration projects - personally flew to Miami to check the condition of the car.
When he received the spare parts quote, Armstrong was stunned. Specifically, the repair items cost as follows: The carbon fiber hood costs up to 50,000 euros (about 1.53 billion VND), the horseshoe grille costs 80,000 euros (equivalent to 2.46 billion VND). The most expensive are the LED headlights and wheel arch covers, each costing 150,000 euros (up to 4.61 billion VND). Through a preliminary inspection, Armstrong discovered that the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport's carbon monocoque chassis showed signs of damage, enough for the insurance company to classify the car as a "total loss". It can be seen that the collision intensity of the accident was also very large, when both front airbags and the driver's knee airbag deployed, meaning the steering wheel, dashboard and safety system had to be completely replaced.
The car is still very new, with an odometer of only 5,617 km, meaning the current owner has only used it for more than 320 km since buying it. After the accident, the Chiron Pur Sport was put up for auction in Poland with the description of "damaged gearbox" and an asking price of 2.1 million euros (about 64.6 billion VND) - only half the market value of an intact car. Powering the Chiron Pur Sport is still the 8.0L W16 engine with four turbochargers, producing 1,500 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque. Thanks to a refined gearbox with shorter gear ratios, the car is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 350 km/h. Despite the unfortunate accident, this Chiron Pur Sport is still a testament to the super rare value and true "luxury" of Bugatti - where every detail, even the smallest, costs as much as another supercar.
Only 60 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport cars are produced worldwide, making each Pur Sport a "treasure" in the supercar world, not only expensive in terms of ownership value but also the most expensive if damaged. Video : Extremely rare Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport "oil-filled" accident.
