On July 30, 2025, BYD launched a new, cheaper version of the Yuan UP in the Chinese market. This is the model currently being sold under the name BYD Atto 2 in the Vietnamese market. The price of the new BYD Atto 2 Pilot Edition starts at only 74,800 yuan (about 262 million VND), a reduction of about 25%. "You get what you pay for", the new version of BYD Atto 2 in the Chinese market has been cut off from the ADAS active safety system called "God's Eye".
Meanwhile, the 3 versions of BYD Atto 2 previously sold in the Chinese market had prices ranging from 99,800 - 119,800 Yuan (349 - 419 million VND). It should be noted that in February this year, BYD announced its “National Smart Driving” strategy to integrate the “God’s Eye” system into all of its vehicle lines, including low-cost products like the Seagull. However, the new version of the BYD Atto 2 does not seem to be part of this direction. The Pilot Edition version of this Chinese electric car retains the same design and dimensions. Accordingly, the car has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,310 x 1,830 x 1,675 mm and a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. The car has two new paint colors: beige and purple. The three old paint colors, including white, gray and green, are also applied to the car.
Inside the Atto 2 Pilot Edition, BYD has equipped it with an 8.8-inch digital dashboard and a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, using the BYD DiLink 50 system. Other features of this low-cost electric car include: 4G network, Bluetooth, in-car WiFi, remote control, OTA software updates, voice interaction, 4-speaker audio system, keyless start and tire pressure warning. The driver's seat can be manually adjusted in 6 directions while the passenger seat can be manually adjusted in 4 directions. The "heart" of the new BYD Atto 2 version is a permanent magnet electric motor located in the front with a maximum capacity of 94 horsepower and a maximum torque of 180 Nm. The car's acceleration time from 0-100 km/h is about 12 seconds. When using DC fast charging, the car can charge from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. The Pilot Edition's electric motor is paired with a 32 kWh Blade battery, giving it a CLTC range of 301 km. So, compared to the other versions, the Pilot Edition is both weaker and has a shorter range.
The remaining versions of the BYD Atto 2 in the Chinese market have a powerful electric motor of 176 horsepower and 290 Nm, accompanied by a Blade battery with a capacity of 45.12 kWh. The fastest acceleration time from 0-100 km/h is 7.9 seconds while the travel range reaches 401 km. It is not yet clear whether BYD plans to sell a new low-cost version of Atto 2 in the Vietnamese market. Launched in Vietnam in early July 2025, the car has only 1 version and is priced from 669 million VND.
