To date, the Department of Education and Training has completed all 24 assigned tasks for 2025; and has also implemented many key tasks in accordance with Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; Action Program No. 03 of the Provincial Party Committee and the province's education development projects.
Currently, 100% of communes and wards in the province have achieved universal education and literacy standards. In the 2025-2026 school year, 100% of public kindergartens will organize two-session teaching per day; 303 out of 307 public primary schools will organize two-session teaching per day, reaching nearly 99%.

However, the education sector still faces many difficulties, especially the shortage of teachers, classrooms, and facilities that do not meet the requirements for implementing the 2018 General Education Program.
It is projected that in the 2026-2027 school year, the entire education sector will still lack approximately 3,312 personnel compared to the established quota, including a shortage of about 1,635 teachers at all levels. Specifically, the preschool level will need approximately 929 teachers to implement universal education for children aged 3 to 5 years old according to the new regulations.
Mr. Le Chi Nguyen, Principal of Phan Ngoc Hien Specialized High School (An Xuyen Ward), suggested implementing policies to recruit and attract teachers and students to specialized schools; and at the same time, promoting STEM education and effectively implementing the Project to make English a second language.
Furthermore, the number of high school students is projected to increase sharply in the coming years. Enrollment in grade 10 for the 2026-2027 school year is expected to increase by nearly 10,000 students; and in the 2027-2028 school year, it is projected to increase by more than 8,000 students, creating significant pressure on schools, teachers, and facilities.
Regarding the project to build and renovate school toilets, as of May 22, 2026, 257 out of 839 projects had commenced, reaching over 30%; of which 199 projects were completed. Currently, the percentage of schools with standard toilets is 76%, and the percentage of schools with clean drinking water systems is over 75%. However, the implementation progress in some localities is still slow.
Mr. Tran Quang Dien, Principal of Vo Van Kiet High School (Phuoc Long commune), requested that the province pay attention to investing more in facilities to serve teaching and learning.
The education sector recommends continuing to prioritize funding for the reinforcement of school buildings; and also proposes the establishment of several more combined junior and senior high schools to meet the increasing educational needs in the coming period.
The education sector has made many efforts to overcome difficulties in the past period. The province will continue to work with the central government to request support in terms of investment capital for education, especially school infrastructure.
