Singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffett's website announced on September 2 that he passed away peacefully on the night of September 1 surrounded by family, friends and music . He lived his life like a song until his last breath and will forever be in the memories of his fans.
Buffett is an American singer-songwriter, actor, and businessman. He is best known for his music, which often depicts the “island escape” lifestyle. With his band Coral Reefer, Buffett has recorded hits including “Margaritaville” and “Come Monday.” Buffett has released 27 studio albums—four platinum and eight gold—in a career spanning more than five decades.
In addition to his music career, Buffett is a best-selling author and has been involved in two restaurant chains named after his two most famous songs. He owns the Margaritaville Cafe chain and co-developed the now-defunct Cheeseburger in Paradise. Buffett was also one of the richest musicians in the world , with a net worth of $550 million.
