No matter what profession or field they study or work in, every progressive youth constantly studies and follows the example of beloved Uncle Ho.
Don't be afraid to commit to contributing
At the 8th ceremony to honor the Outstanding Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings in 2025, Vu Nhat Huong, Assistant to the International Cooperation Department, Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, told about her memorable year of working in the Central African Republic. Huong said that in the 379 days of her mission, every day she opened her eyes was a day filled with beautiful memories. And those beautiful memories started from the most familiar image, when she wore the uniform of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force every day, and right on her left chest was the symbol with the logo with the two words Vietnam.
"What is special is that many international friends and local people are extremely excited to welcome Vietnamese officers. When they know we are from Vietnam, they immediately shout "President Ho Chi Minh ", which makes us very touched and proud. Therefore, we always study and make constant efforts as Vietnamese officers carrying out sacred international duties", Huong proudly said.
Following Uncle Ho's example, always trying her best in studying and contributing, so although Huong's initial mission when joining the peacekeeping force in the Central African Republic was as a communications officer, when assigned to clear bombs and mines, Huong was ready to commit.
"In the team, I was the only woman. Everyone asked me if I was ready to take on this mission. At first, I was quite confused. I thought that as a woman and going with a foreign army, would I be able to do the job well? And especially, my initial job was just a media officer taking photos and reporting news. But in a split second, I thought that when I came here, I had to accept the mission and as an officer of the Vietnam People's Army, I could not be discouraged or falter before any mission. And I agreed," Huong recalled and said that it was an extremely difficult but very meaningful mission for a female officer like Huong.
As a progressive youth following Uncle Ho's words, Huong believes: "Anyone born in peace understands the value of peace and we always respect, love and will continue to preserve this peace. For the peacekeeping force, every time we step out into the world , we always keep in mind that peace is a mission, humanity and heart. We constantly learn, always strive for the flag and the colors, for the two sacred words Vietnam to complete all assigned tasks".
Associate Professor Dr. Tran Le Hung, Gustave Eiffel University (France), emotionally recounted his journey to study abroad in France, starting with not knowing French. Although it was very difficult, he deeply understood Uncle Ho's teachings and learned from him. He always tried to study by himself every day and overcame the difficulties due to the language barrier to achieve many achievements like today.
"I also had the honor of meeting French historians who have studied Uncle Ho very deeply and have published articles and books about him. All of this makes me feel very proud of the two words Vietnam when going to the international arena. As a generation of young people born and raised in peace, we are also aware of our own responsibilities. We have the aspiration to bring Vietnam to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, entering the era of national advancement through science and technology", Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Le Hung shared.
After listening to Associate Professor Dr. Tran Le Hung talk about his journey to overcome the language barrier, MC Khanh Vy (a delegate of the advanced youth following Uncle Ho's words in 2025) remembered the story of Uncle Ho when he first came to France. Khanh Vy told from the information she learned that when on the deck of the ship, wanting to know how something said French, Uncle Ho would point to that object and ask the French friends on the ship to show him how to read and write. Then, Uncle Ho borrowed a pen to write on the palm of his hand. Even though he worked hard all day, at night, Uncle Ho still read those words over and over again.
"At first, Uncle Ho practiced writing, combining simple words into complete sentences. When his articles were published in French newspapers, he said he was very happy but he also hoped that the editorial board would continue to correct his French mistakes. These things from Uncle Ho have greatly motivated young people on their journey to conquer foreign languages to reach out to the world and the process of lifelong learning in general," Khanh Vy expressed.
The journey of growing up deeply imbued with Uncle Ho's teachings
Also inspired and motivated by Uncle Ho's story of learning French, singer Phuong My Chi said she was able to overcome difficulties and fear of making mistakes when creating her musical products.
Singer Phuong My Chi said that in the early days of her artistic career, she always kept an ideal for herself, which was to spread the love of the nation and the traditions of Vietnamese art through music. So up to now, the female singer is very happy that her small products have spread very strongly among the audience, especially the younger generation.
"For the album Vu tru co bay, Chi also forced herself to study a lot. Because this album is inspired by Vietnamese literature. So at first I was quite nervous because I was afraid of making mistakes. But when I learned about Uncle Ho's story, that when he had his articles published in French newspapers, he also humbly said that he really hoped that everyone would continue to correct his spelling mistakes so that he could learn more. That is the spirit that makes every young person like Chi feel that mistakes are not something too scary. Because from those mistakes we will learn more and develop more", singer Phuong My Chi expressed.
The female singer shared: "I deeply understand Uncle Ho's teaching that culture and art are also a front and you are soldiers. I hope that not only this year but many years from now, this will still be a front for me to contribute to the music path. Not only to make Vietnamese audiences love the identity, culture and music of the nation more, but also to spread it to international audiences."
At the ceremony, everyone was deeply moved when hearing the story of a physically disabled delegate sharing his journey of learning from Uncle Ho to rise up. That was the story of Chuong Dinh Phuc, a student at Tay Nguyen University.
Phuc said that when he was born, his body was not complete, his arms were contracted and he could not move normally. When he was 10 years old, his parents divorced, many events happened in his life, he became disoriented and did not know what to do at that time.
"I thought my life could not go any further. But one day, I accidentally received a ray of light in my life. While reading books in the school library, I read Uncle Ho's teachings, including the sentence: study to be a human, study to serve the Fatherland, serve the people. And following Uncle Ho's teachings, I knew what I needed to do. And I changed, started to study and research by myself. When I entered university, I boldly participated in the Youth Union and Association movements. After all that time, now I am standing here, representing the voice of the youth with the aspiration to contribute my youth to the community," Phuc shared.
From his story, the student from the Central Highlands sent a message: "We all will encounter difficulties, but I hope that you will overcome your circumstances, which means overcoming yourself, and from there you will have the opportunity to learn, develop and follow the example of beloved Uncle Ho."
