Organized by Temasek Foundation and Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) of the National University of Singapore (NUS), AJF not only provides training programs but also creates opportunities for practical learning and sustainable networking among Asian journalists.

2025 marks the 16th year of the AJF Fellowship, bringing together 20 journalists from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The programme runs from 8 September 2025 to 31 October 2025, combining online and face-to-face learning in Singapore. Activities include media training, in-depth workshops, panel discussions, meetings with politicians, academics and colleagues, and field visits.

AJF 2025 - Course 16 brings together 20 journalists from 15 Asian countries. Among them, two Vietnamese representatives receive scholarships: Dang Hoang Hai (freelance journalist) and Mai Anh Thu (Nhan Dan Newspaper).

Launched in 2009, AJF has built a network of more than 238 Asian journalists, promoting professional exchanges and providing journalists with the opportunity to share views on regional and international issues of concern.

This is an opportunity for Asian journalists to exchange professional experiences in the field of journalism, and learn about how journalism combines resources to participate in the process of heritage conservation.

In Singapore, the modern urban landscape with hundreds of high-rise buildings in Marina Bay, Orchard or Raffles City is still planned in harmony with historical heritage. Singapore currently has more than 7,000 buildings that are officially protected and restored to international standards, according to the Singapore Heritage Plan.

The Heritage Conservation Centre manages more than 250,000 national artifacts, including museums and cultural events. Singapore prioritizes heritage as an economic and political “brand” that helps promote the country's image.

This year, Vietnam has two representatives receiving AJF 2025 scholarships. Vietnamese journalists will share issues and solutions in the field of journalism with the international community, contributing to strengthening the connection network between Vietnam and other countries in the region.

Singapore has shared its AJF experience through regional workshops and Temasek Foundation initiatives, serving as a journalism model for countries to learn about sustainable conservation and media development.
