Reigning world champion Bao Phuong Vinh had a quick 40-13 victory over Awwad Naser (Jordan), after 18 rounds.
In the afternoon of the same day, the champion of the 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup in Ho Chi Minh City (in billiards, each year there are several World Cup rounds taking place in several different locations, but there is only one World Championship), Tran Duc Minh, had an even quicker victory.
