Bringing AI into Schools
In the context of digital transformation taking place strongly around the world, AI has become a powerful support tool for teachers in the process of innovating teaching methods and improving the qualityof education . Keeping up with that trend, many schools in the highlands have also researched and applied technology and AI to teaching with the expectation of bringing students vivid and effective lessons.
Ms. Ngan Thi Lam, Principal of Hang Kia A Secondary School ( Hoa Binh ) said that the school currently has 22 classes with a total of 446 students, of which ethnic minority students account for 98.7%.

To improve the quality of teaching and learning, in recent years, the school has gradually introduced technology into teaching and learning activities such as using projectors and slide presentations in class.
Regarding the application of AI in teaching and learning, Ms. Lam said that currently the school has teachers using AI to suggest lecture content and prepare questions for students, but the number is not large.
According to Ms. Lam, if AI is used properly, it will help teachers have lively lessons. Applying AI will also help students absorb lesson content more easily. "In the future, the school will continue to encourage the use of AI to support teachers in the teaching process," Ms. Lam shared.
At Nam Nhu Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Nam Po District, Dien Bien ), teachers pay attention to the application of technology and AI. Mr. Le Trung Hien, Principal of the school, said that in addition to applying technology such as using presentation software in the teaching process, some teachers have proactively researched and tested AI tools such as ChatGPT, Canva AI to support lesson planning, create automatic exam questions, and design more intuitive lectures.
Mr. Hien assessed that AI initially brought quite clear advantages when helping teachers save time, personalize learning for students, and at the same time make lectures richer and more attractive. According to him, technology and AI also help make lessons more vivid, students more excited, and teachers have more tools to support creativity.
However, due to disadvantages in facilities and geographical location, in remote schools, the application of technology and AI in the teaching process also faces many difficulties.
Mr. Pham Viet Phuc, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ky Son District (Nghe An) said that Ky Son is a mountainous district of Nghe An province with a large number of ethnic minorities living there. Due to its geographical isolation, in remote schools, phone signals and Internet are still unstable, many students do not have smartphones or personal computers, making it difficult to apply technology and AI to teaching and learning.
In addition, teachers' technological skills are still limited, many teachers are only in the stage of learning and getting acquainted with AI, so the effectiveness of support in teaching is not much. "Currently, AI is a powerful tool supporting not only the education sector but also other professions. In the coming time, Ky Son district will also promote training and popularize AI in teaching."
AI is a powerful support tool for teachers
Applying technology and AI to the teaching process helps teachers create lively lessons, while stimulating the senses and increasing students' ability to absorb and learn.
In early February, at the Van Ban District Excellent Teacher Contest (Lao Cai), the lesson on buying and selling goods by Ms. Vu Thanh Thuy, a teacher at Khanh Yen Primary School, became special thanks to the application of AI in the teaching process. The lesson not only received high praise from education experts but also helped Ms. Thuy win first prize at the contest.
To achieve that achievement, Ms. Thuy used software such as Camtasia, iSpring, iMindMap10 and websites such as Lumalabs, Hedra to design and convert photos into videos, creating a lively, cute character that makes students more interested in receiving knowledge.
The convenience of AI in the teaching process is also highly appreciated by teacher Lo Duy Tung, a teacher at Tua Thang Primary Boarding School No. 1 (Tua Chua district, Dien Bien province). Teacher Tung used AI to carry out the topic "Designing professional multiple choice and essay questions to test and evaluate 5th grade English students".
According to Mr. Tung, thanks to the help of AI, the question system is personalized according to the level, ensuring comprehensiveness in assessing students' abilities. In addition, AI also scores quickly, provides instant feedback, analyzes learning progress and helps students self-evaluate after each assignment.
At the end of March 2025, the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province coordinated with the STEAM for Vietnam Organization to implement a project called "Train the Trainers 2025: Popularizing AI for teachers in Dien Bien province". This is considered a specific and strategic activity to improve the capacity of teachers in the digital age.
Teachers in Dien Bien province participate in the AI popularization program taking place at the end of March 2025.
The project aims to train about 17,000 education managers and teachers at all levels to understand AI and related technologies, how generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) can support and improve teaching with AI tools (Chat GPT, Copilot...).
Ms. Hoang Tuyet Ban, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province, assessed that the popularization of AI applications aims to equip knowledge and skills to apply generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) for staff and teachers to improve teaching methods and increase interaction with students.
In addition, the project will help improve the province's education ranking, especially in the field of technology application. Enhance the capacity for digital transformation in teaching and educational management in the future.
